i've had some interesting dreams this past week. in one there were so many feelings i was trying to defend. because i've been so independent lately. but there's still that something else that you always tend to miss i think.
in one week, i went from being fever sick to not being sick to sexy-voice being sick. or at least i call it my sexy voice. but really, what gives?
anyway -- on monday, i photographed elizabeth and i as i started to cough she handed me a cough drop. :D
she's the manager of my apartment building -- and i adore her. she's 85 but woman can handle her business.
yeah so anyway, if you're near downtown los angeles, i want to photograph you. for serious. i have subjects already but more won't hurt. and if you're reading this, it's because you know how to find me outside the world of livejournal. so fiiind me.
i leave in approximately one week and i'm very, very excited. i'm going to see my father, which is actually pretty neat because i haven't seen him in years. i spoke to him today and i could hear the happiness in his voice. it's very lucky for me that he got a prosthetic leg because that's what makes this possible i think.
in spite of the fact that i want school to end asap, i enjoy my art/horror class.
we spent this week watching and analyzing "the shining."
oh and this film called "freaks," circa 1932.
my opinion is that anyone who appreciates an unconventional film should watch it. it's a basic storyline transformed into this surreal vision, or i should say with elements of surreal art.
and we saw eraserhead two weeks ago. that film is quite interesting but quite understandably slow in all its 1977 glory.
i'm really digging diane arbus a lot more now.
photo is photo. fun but time consuming. i spoke about graciela iturbide last week. now i just have critiques left. my professor said, "good research." he is just amazing -- he did this series of photos, one right after the other -- almost collage style, as he drove down specific streets in los angeles.
his criticism of my work has thus far been good, which is nice -- coming from him.
& graciela's work is fantastic; she's such an inspiration. mira:
he becomes a bird too.
my friends have been great help to me lately with so much stuff running through my mind. veeeeeeeeeeeeeeelveth! (si se puede!)
guatemala is going to be FUN-tastic.
if you want anything, let me know! i will gladly send postcards or bring you back something small, cause hey, i'm just five feet.
cheers to going back to guatemala. that's love.
as someone [
_escapeartist] on livejournal reminds me,
love always wins.
