Very tired. Stayed up late peering at flies through a microscope, trying to figure out whether or not their 2nd antennal segments had sutures on the outside edge, whether their longitudinal wing edges were spinose, and if so, if their halteres leaned toward or away from their mesopleura. Every type of procrastination has its price, and waiting until the last couple of days to do a bunch of identifications for one's insect collection apparently comes at the cost of one's eyesight and beauty rest. No wonder that so few entomologists are hot.

At least I had a good reason for the procrastination...took the girl to see superbike races on Saturday. Damn, those machines are hot. Makes me want to trade in my Honda Shadow for a (lowered) CBR or GSX, and be the crotch rocket maniac I am at heart. Until then I suppose will continue to drive my old Celica like a lunatic.

I've never been to any sort of motorsport race before. Wandering around the vendor booths was a lot of fun, picking up free stuff and buying some sweet gear. Plus the people-watching was primo. Probably a smaller redneck contingent in this part of the country, but still it's a red-meat-loving crowd, with baseball hats, flaming skull tattoos, and hootchies in heels with hot-pants that say "ride me." Amanda and I were on our best behavior, because lord knows if we pissed anyone off, they would be able to find us pretty easily in this crowd. Even for Northern California, not all that many white/asian lesbian couples at the bike races. But really, everyone was very friendly, happy, good vibes. I also liked how you can walk right up to the racing team's pit areas and watch them work on the bikes during the races. Very cool.

So yes, two weeks left of work, and one week of class. Ass in gear time.
