Just had lunch with a former roommate, Steve. I lived with Steve and this other guy Chris during the strange transitional period between living in Davis and living in Michigan. Steve is a grad student in some complicated molecular biology field, and a really great, if somewhat passive-aggressive, guy who is into lesbian folk music. Chris was a strange man-child into the History Channel who was sporadically dating his own ex-wife and had like 4 jobs and welded designer bikes in the garage. I asked Steve if he still kept in touch with Chris. Apparently Chris' "borderline unreliability tendencies," as Steve nicely put it, went a bit too far in the time after I left, and he "borrowed" a car from a female friend of Steve's he kind of dated and took it with him when he moved to Arizona, thus stirring up all manner of drama in his wake. So the short answer was, "no," they didn't still keep in touch.
I remember when Amanda was going to come visit from Michigan when I first met her, and I asked them if they'd mind if she stayed over with me in the apartment. It was partly due to the overenthusiasm of their positive response that I chose to spring for a hotel room.
