Greetings from Fresno

Watching the superbowl from a hotel room in Fresno. I've got a mixture of anxiety and excitement...I'm on my first work-related overnight trip with a few co-workers. It's nice they put us up in our own rooms (what am I going to do with TWO beds to myself???), and I'm enjoying the free wireless.

The only two bummers are, 1, that it's in Fresno, of course...sort of an armpit of california. Could be worse, but still. Last year's was in Reno. The other bummer is, 2, that I have to give a presentation at this conference on Tuesday. Feh. Public speaking is not something I generally enjoy. And if I were really feeling bitchy, I could add 2.5, that I have to do a ton of reading sometime over the next few days before I have to immediately go to class upon returning to the bay area. Yep, still trying to get that degree.

What is sort of cool is that there is apparently a climbing gym somewhere in Fresno, and my goal tomorrow night is to take one of the district trucks to go check it out after dinner. So on the whole...could be better, could be worse.

Went to a crab feed with Courtney and family last night for the Monterey County Jr. League. Fantastic crab, generously poured booze, and a good time with her sister and friends at the village pub in Carmel afterwards. I love that area. Maybe that's bummer #3 of this conference...I would much have preferred to spend some more time down there. I love Monterey. And crab. And Monterey.
