1. What is your pet’s name? Well I'm going to do this for both my kitties, so their names are Kaylee and Sneaker. :)
2. What kind of animal is it? They're both domestic short-hair cats. :)
3. What does your pet look like? Kaylee is all black (with some white between her legs and on her chest) and has beautiful yellow eyes. She's also a bit chubby. :) Sneaker is all gray and has nice yellow eyes. He's smaller than Kaylee. :)
4. How did you get your pet? Well with Kaylee my mom and I had always been allergic to cats and thought we couldn't have one, but we took care of a few strays/neighbourhood cats for awhile and didn't seem to be allergic to them, so we decided to try getting our own. :) So we went to the Humane Society and picked Kaylee out. :) With Sneaker, we decided we wanted a friend for Kaylee and we knew that my mom's friend's tenant had lots of cats/kittens, so we called her and asked if she had any males, and she did! So we went over and looked at the two litters (all males strangely enough!) and picked out little Sneaker. :D
5. How long have you been his/her guardian? I got Kaylee in June 2006, and Sneaker in June (I think) 2007. Apparently June is when I start wanting a cat lol. :P So it's been a year and a half for Kaylee (wow!) and seven months for Sneaker. :)
6. Why did you get this type of pet? Because I fell in love with kitties. :) Sherlock (as I named him), a neighbourhood cat won me over by being a really friendly cat. :) So I just knew I wanted a cat and I'm so glad I did! Now I'm a huge cat person. :)
7. Why did you choose the name you did? Well, Kaylee's name just came to me when I held her for the first time. I thought "Kaylee the cat" :). Also, I had liked the name since I heard it on Firefly, and since it's one of my fave shows, and Kaylee is my fave character, it just made sense that that would be her name. :) As for Sneaker, he earned his. :) He would sneak around the house because Kaylee hated him in the beginning and she'd hiss at him so he'd hide in the couch etc, and he also would play with our shoes/shoelaces, so we thought the name was very apt. :)
8. Tell a story that occurred during the time you were in the “getting to know each other” stages. (We all have them-“she chewed my socks”, “he hid under the bed”, "she kept looking out the window", etc.) Well for Kaylee, she kept going into "psycho mode" as we called it, she would just go insane all around the house lol. That and she fell in the toilet because she was trying to drink from it! :) But besides that, Kaylee was an awesome little kitten. :) As for Sneaker however, he's a little troublemaker!! He likes to chew things, so you can't leave any sort of bag out, it doesn't matter if it's a bag of sunflower seeds, epsom salts...or a bag of treats. He'll try to get in all of them. :)
9. Is yours and inside or outside pet? Why? INSIDE!!! I can't advocate this enough. It's just so much safer for the cats. I've let Kaylee walk around the backyard with a harness on, but that's it and I didn't even want to do that. (My mom overturned my vote)
10. Does your pet go out with you in public? Why or why not? Well both have gone to the vet's and Kaylee went to the cat show. :) But besides that no. I did buy a cat stroller though....;)
11. What is the cutest thing your pet has ever done? Oh wow. This is so hard. I guess for Kaylee it would be how she used to jump off of stuff and spread her little arms and legs out (like she's a little starfish). It was beyond adorable. She now jumps like a graceful cat but I miss the old way. :) As for Sneaker, it has to be the fact that he likes to suckle on us. It melts me every time. :) That and they both clean each other! It's so cute!!! :)
12. What is the most obnoxious thing your pet has ever done? Well for Kaylee, I guess it would be when she was little she'd try to eat the centerpiece on the dining room table and she'd pull out all the flowers. As for Sneaker (the troublemaker) it'd have to be going in the trashcan! We have to make sure we're really careful about putting chicken bones etc outside because he'll just go in there and "shop".
13. Does your pet play well with others (animal or human)? Yes and no lol. Kaylee likes people but is afraid of Danielle/little kids because they're "grabby". But she's insanely patient and would never hurt them, but she just looks so upset that I try not to let Danielle bug her too much. As for other cats, no. Kaylee HATED Sneaker when he arrived and hissed/growled at him and us (which she NEVER did before) for two weeks before she finally started coming around. She's queen of the house ok? :P As for Sneaker, he likes people (but is a little afraid of Danielle too). He tried to make immediate friends with Kaylee when he arrived, so I'd say he's good with other cats. :)
14. What is your pet’s favorite food? This sounds funny, but Royal Canine cat food. :) Yes, they make a cat food. And the first ingredient is chicken, which is very important, so I love it too even if it's a little pricey. But they both just LOVE it. In the beginning we had Sneaker on wet because Kaylee hates it and we wanted to monitor what he was eating, but now we've got them both on dry, and it's wonderful.
15. What makes your pet special? They're my babies!!!! :) They're both the best cats in the whole world!!! I love them so much it's crazy. :) Kaylee is gorgeous and we have a really strong bond between us. Sneaker's a little lovebug at night and likes to snuggle up with me. :)
16. Where does your pet sleep? Kaylee sleeps...wherever actually. Sometimes on my bed, the top of the couch, my mom's bed, the bed in the basement (my dad sleeps there when he visits) or in her bed. :) Sneaker usually sleeps with me or my mom at night, but he likes all the same places as Kaylee otherwise.
17. How does your pet communicate with you? Like I said before, Kaylee and I have a very strong connection and I like to say that she's my "kitty soulmate". :) She just stares at me sometimes and I know what she's trying to tell me or if she needs to be patted/loved up etc. She also gives me kisses on my face when she's feeling lovey towards me and I LOVE it! Sneaker is a bit harder to read but he rubs up against me if he wants lovings. :) (And of course they purr :P)
18. How does your pet let you know he/she needs to go to the restroom (if applicable)? Well they both are litter trained, so that's not an issue, but they let me know if the boxes aren't clean enough by staring at them and then looking at me, and then going in and scratching a lot. It's not subtle. ;)
19. How does your pet let you know if he/she needs food or water? Well they'll both meow a lot in the kitchen if we're making something and the dish isn't filled up enough (we free feed them). As for water, I always make sure there is enough water, so that's never an issue...I even bought one of those cool water things that fill up itself if they drink it all. :)
20. What is your pet’s weirdest quirk? Hmm...Kaylee used to play fetch, that was pretty cool. :) (She got lazy and now can't be bothered though lol) Sneaker's would be the fact that he still suckles on us. I don't think he'll ever grow out of it. :)
21. What do other people think of your pet? Well most people think Kaylee's a sweetheart and that she's beautiful. (Cause she is! :P) And as for Sneaker, he's a little cutie so I think most people think that he's cute. :) Both cats are very VERY patient and tolerate all the weird things I do to them, so I think people notice that too. Kaylee protests sometimes, but Sneaker never does...so I get to make them dance or put costumes on them. :)
22. Has your pet ever been ill? Thankfully, no. The only times were when they both were spayed and neutered. :)
23. What is your favorite memory together? Just laying on my bed when they both are too and patting them both and kissing them and hearing them purr and knowing that they're my kitties. :)
24. Have you ever sacrificed anything for your pet? Well I make sure that I always have money to take care of them because they're really MY cats, so I pay for their food, shots/vet stuff, litter, toys etc. So I guess that's a sacrifice.
25. Has your pet ever sacrificed anything for you? I think they sacrifice their patience sometimes for me lol. They put up with me lol.
26. What is your favorite thing about your pet? That they both consider me their "person". :) I love that because I love them both so so much. :) I'm just so lucky that I have them and I can't explain how much they mean to me. That and the fact that Kaylee has "Precious Moment" eyes. :D They're so big.
27. Where is the coolest place you have ever gone with your pet? With Kaylee it has to be the cat show!! She won 5th place in one of the rounds which was so great! :D Sneaker's coolest place...well he's still a baby so I guess we'll have to see. ;)
28. If your pet is deceased, how did they pass away? Don't even say that!! :( My kitties are both very much alive thanks. I couldn't/wouldn't want to live without them because they are such a part of me now. So I don't know what I'll do if they ever die...I'll be inconsolable.
29. If your pet is still living, what would you most like to do with and/or for him/her someday? Well I'd love to get both my cats professionally photographed. (Yes I realize I'm reaching crazy cat lady status but I don't CARE, screw you, I DO WHAT I WANT) And I'd love to enter Sneaker into a cat show. :D
30. Do you have any plans to get a new pet in the future (near or otherwise)? Well no immediate plans, but I do think that at some point I'll get a third. I REALLY want a black and white (cow kitty!!!) so I'll be getting one eventually. :)
31. What else would you like to say about your pet? Just that I love them so much and they're so much fun to have! They really bring so much light into the house. I can't even imagine my house anymore without them! For me I'm still so shocked I even have pets because I was never able to have anything besides hamsters. So now it's like "There are kitties in the house and I get to PLAY WITH THEM!!!!!!!" :D
