I think most fairytale villains are just misunderstood. Let's take the witch in Hansel and Gretel for instance: If two snotty lil' brats came along and just started to eat my house I know I'd be pretty damn pissed too!!! Still, when she threatened to eat Hansel suddenly she was a big bad meanie! I think it'd've made an excellent lesson: an illustrative example of the anarchy that would result if everyone just walked around eating anything they wanted!
