A Task
Victor had given her a task.
She was to clear out several caches from a weapons supplier who went rogue. Not by herself, naturally - she'd selected a team, with nine members including herself. Many of them were part of her web of secrecy. Many of them were lower Numbers who preferred the work in shadows to the challenges and politics of Castle life. Two were not Spades at all, but contacts from her former life, people she'd trusted longer than she'd been a Spade. None of them would be watched, none of them would be missed. And people were used to her comings and goings, so her own disappearance would raise no red flags.
First, surveillance. They needed to find out which caches were less protected, and hit those first.
