Well, it's birthday time again on Monday. I'll be 25! I don't know, that seems oooooold to me. Like, I need to stop being an irresponsible kid and act like a grown up. I think whatever's left of punk rocker me is starting to get pissed off with this growing up thing.
Anyway, this past year can only be described as THE YEAR OF THE AWESOME. Need proof?
Age 24 started in Chicago, in a super swanky hotel, with my boyfriend to be. We lived like kings that weekend.
Somewhere around that time I fired my piece of shit realtor and hired one who is TOTALLY AWESOME.
On March 20th, I started dating the most amazing, sweet, loving boy in the world.
On April 23rd, I came home with the sweetest dog ever to live.
On April 29th, I gave my awesome boyfriend the most awesome present for his birthday. All gifts from here on out will be measured against this gift.
In late June, I accepted a contract on THE MOST AWESOME HOUSE IN THE WORLD.
On August 18th, I closed on THE MOST AWESOME HOUSE IN THE WORLD.
October brought Archon, which was a whole lotta fun, and Halloween, which was so fun I barely remember it.
November brought Thanksgiving, which... well, didn't suck.
Christmas meant time bonding with Nick's family, cooking for mine and some close friends, and new brilliant presents full of love and awesome.
Midnight on New Year's found me in the arms of my beloved, smearing my lipstick from a passionate midnight kiss.
Valentine's Day was celebrated with an awesome homecooked meal, full of love and lovin'.
And today is the annual Cocktail Party at the boy's house, thrown earlier than usual to celebrate my birthday. Rumor has it that ice cream cake will be involved.
Sounds pretty awesome, right? IT IS.
Not to mention that I have some of the coolest friends in the world. And coolest employees at work.
I love running into friends I haven't seen in a while. When they ask what's new with me, I get to say everything.
And everything is new and amazing and I love it all.
Yeah yeah, I'm gloating. But I have a lot to be happy about. I think I'm in the best place I've ever been in my life. Taking control of things-- finding a realtor who will work for me, leaving a relationship what was bad for me-- has treated me well.
So let's hope 25 holds a candle to 24. I'm very happy right now. I hope it stays that way for a while.
