Apparently the Show Jumping course took 83 seconds to complete. Well, I can now say that I can definitely hold my breath for 83 seconds. ZARA. MARY. TINA. You girls were AWESOME! (bonus points for Nicola Wilson and her bullet of a little horse) I yelled my joy aloud and it was a loud and joyful yell.
SILVER MEDAL. Woo! All the parades for Team GB. (And for Ireland who came 5th, which nobody expected at all!)
And then the individual. Oh, if only the Swedish lass had won. For a moment I thought she had. The whole of the stands thought she had. And then, just as she crossed the line, the cruel solid thud as the top pole of that last fence hit the ground. There are no words for how gutted that was. She would have been the first female individual Olympic Eventing Gold medal winner ever. EVER.
Ah well. Congrats Germany. Your team was awesome, your dressage was amazing and your winning dude was very very good.
Oh and New Zealand. You were tricky with your creeping up out of nowhere. WELL DONE. And please more of Mark Todd and Andrew Nicholson's horse. Twas a beautiful horse with an amazing gait.
