More people keep on leaving work. Zack's last day was tonight and while I would've liked to go say goodbye, I didn't feel like moving. XD;; Gomen ne, Zack. Laziness prevails. Anyway, he's apparently off to educate the masses in the finer points of English. I wonder if we'll ever know how THAT came about. Zack wasn't the most..how do you say, teacherish of the lot and while his speech wasn't bad, I never would've suspected he'd had training to be a teacher. Weirdness, just weirdness. I also wonder which school he'll be teaching at. I know he'll have a bunch of sixteen year old girls mooning over him before long. He's too adorable, like, stray tomcat adorable. XD

Garfield Boy and his keepers were in again last night, though due to the band playing (get to them in a bit), he didn't really hang around the cafe that much. He did manage to acquire a follower, though. An equally-hyper little black boy of indeterminate age who seemed to worship the ground GB stomped on. It was amusing in that sad 'The world is going to hell' sort of way. I also actually did his mother a favor when he eventually asked me where Jackie was. I lied and told him she'd gotten another job because he didn't need to know she'd been fired. His reaction would've been a lot worse, I'm sure, if I'd been honest. I told his mother quietly and she thanked me for not telling the truth. Yeah yeah yeah, I know. 'Don't sugarcoat things!', but hey, like I wanted to hear him carry on about it for the rest of the night. And that poor woman needed a break, even in some small fashion. I also think I was doing Jackie a good turn since she actually liked this kid and kinda did it out of some bizarre sense of old team loyalty. I'm not baking him single cookies, though. XD I'll be nice and talk to him when he talks to me, but I'm not gonna bend any rules. Kids don't learn that way.

Now, for some reason, no one ever tells us cafe workers when a band will be playing. At least, no one's ever told me, the one who normally has to deal with them during their performances. So it's natural for me to be more than a little surprised when a pair of guys around my age come up to me and ask for Jeffrey, explaining they're the band for the night. I didn't hide my surprise, but then, I'm often terribly honest with customers if I'm confused over something. My customer service smile only extends to the corners of my mouth; it does not encompass my whole being. Anyway, I page Jeffrey, wait a bit, then flagged down Jared. While we waited for him to finish up with someone else, I asked the two guys what they played. One was a pianist and they both sang. I have to say I preferred the pianist's voice over his companion's; it was softer and a lot more pleasant to the ears. His friend could've easily beat the former Emo Idol kid for the title. He didn't warble, but his lyrics sure screamed EMO at me. Nevermind the pianist covered a lot of my favorite Billy Joel songs and if anything puts me in a good mood, it's Billy Joel songs. Overall, I enjoyed them way more than the craptacular jazz bands we've had previously; they were nice and sincere. And didn't suck, I should add. I told them they could come back anytime, provided they covered more Billy tunes. :D I gave them their complimentary free drinks at the end of the night and wished them a safe trip home. Next week I deal with open mic night again, which, hopefully, won't feature Emo Idol again. Cause if it does, I'm throwing things at him. I may not have tomatoes, but I sure as hell can find some stale muffins to lob at his head! Or just in his mouth so he STFUs. He was too loud, sucked, plugged his album every five seconds, and generally BLEW. The other two guys can come back, though. I liked their storyteller style. Maybe we'll get some comedians this time or just a simple musician. Or those nice guys from last night will show up. That'd be pleasant. ^^

Nevermind after next week...OTAKON! And SEX! XD Can't forget about teh con sexx0rs. It's gonna be so good to see Khalid again. It's been six bloody months since Katsu. Or will be on the 19th, but whatever, details. I will be a very happy monkey, oh yes. ^^

Outside of all that, we still haven't gotten anyone new for the cafe, which sucks cause we desperately NEED new people. The whole store does, what with half of them leaving. I wish I knew more people who needed jobs that would actually enjoy working there. Oh well. Hopefully luck will prevail and I'll return from Otakon to a few n00blets eager to learn and/or make a complete mess of the cafe.

Wynn outto!
