The moon is red and the bullfrogs are singing..

Julia had to do an overnight at work tonight and I had planned on hanging with Ken after he got out so I tagged along with her when she arrived at eight and read manga for two hours. As the sun went down, Julia drew my attention to the moon, which was a dim reddish hue and full to boot. It being the summer solstice, I sensed it would be an interesting night indeed. I wasn't disappointed.

After getting (regretfully it seemed, Joyce just kept on apologizing) kicked out of the store after closing, I sat outside and doodled in my sketchbook. Nora came out and just about jumped around like a cat on crack at seeing my sketchbook. Turned out she also draws (and well, too!) so we exchanged gallery URLs and AIM names. After much deliberation, Ken and I decided to try and go to the Fairview cemetery, where my maternal grandparents just so happen to be buried. Failing that, there were parks and other assorted spots we could hang and bullshit for a few hours. Unfortunately, after reaching the cemetery gates, we saw a night watchman patrolling the main house and turned back to try the park.

Luck was with us as we parked and spied no nosy policemen. I was wearing my sandals so it'd be easy for me to slip in and out of my shoes at my leisure, which I gladly did the second we reached the grass. I kicked them off and sprinted all the way to the edge of the forest. It was so refreshing. Nowhere near as fun as frollicking naked in the woods around a bonfire, but I'll take what I can get. At first, Ken was like 'Oh, I don't think we should go through the woods, it's so dark in there.' I called him a coward (joking, of course), but he then he changed his mind and practically yanked me into the forest. Haha, I won, I won. XD We came to a clearing by the edge of this great river that wound the entirety of the park and sat on the shore for at least an hour listening to the hoardes of bullfrogs across the way. He'd jump everytime one plunked into the water (mostly because I'd warned him about the child-eating water sprites there), which made me giggle.

After that, we drove around talking about evolution theories and various other topics. We didn't get back here till about 1AM and even then we sat on the sidewalk and I told him a bit about the interesting summer some three years ago. He also met Sally and Lump, though they were about as social as usual. As in, not social at all. XD Overall, it was an enjoyable evening out in the mild summer night. We also left offerings for the spirits of the river (he only had a nickle and I gave them my Chinese love charm) so he should recieve a far warmer reception the next time we go there. It truly was a lovely spot and I know Serena would enjoy it as well should we ever go in a group there.

Ken left and I went inside to talk to Khalid before he crashed, as well as Nora for awhile. She's a really nice person and I hope we can hang out outside of work more often. We need more art chick friends. ^^

Okay, that's it. Move along now. XD
