it's true that the service industry is tough. oh boy, there are times when i just want to strangle these customers. okay fine, we are customers in our own way as well. but some people really are to the limit.
you see, the other day, this tourist couple from a neighbour country came.
man: hello, do you speak english?
me: yes, of course.
man:do you have any magazines that are on shares?
me: yeah, over by that shelf.
man (after flipping true): is there any other bigger font size? the words are so small!
me: no, it's standard.
man: how much isit?
me: 6.
man: no what, it says 5. there!
(when bloody hell the price is 6 and he kept insisting it's 5.)
after paying,
man: can you give me a bag?
me: yeah, sure.
man: can you give me two bags? because i come from a very far away place carry back i scared the plastic bag tore.
me thinking: oh for heaven sake, the book not that heavy anyway.
me aloud: yeah, sure.
man: thank you ah. because i come from very far away, so scared the plastic bag will break.
so then there's like 6,7 customers suddenly in the shop, so i tend to them first. and then after i finished, that couple was flipping the newspapers. so as i approached them,
man: we want to see if there's any shares in the paper. if have we buy.
oh for heaven's sake, they only look at what, the top of the paper? how to see if got shares. so as i proceeded packing up after their stupid horrible mess, his wife took the chinese paper and started flipping! so i say "can you all not flip the paper " the man told his wife "oh hotel got lah, no need to read". naturally i started taking the paper away, and then she won't let go!
oh gosh.
that's how irritating people can be. downright.
oh ya! same country, three women this time. came and started flipping through the chinese newspapers, and kept freaking asking me if the paper is that day's. bloody hell of course it's today. so they flip once, and i asked them what kind of news. "oh, entertainment news about a concert" she replied. and she started taking the english paper as well, and i said "no i don't think the news you want is in there, i read the paper already." she don't believe and started flippign and asked the same question whether isit that day's paper. i started taking away the paper from her explaining (very nicely in fact) that she can't flip the paper. SO, the oldest of the three woman put the chinese paper back on the shelf, and took another paper from below! okay, fine, so this is people's characteristic, i understand. but i told her (and i'm quite a little bit fedup already at this point) that can she please (emphasis on PLEASE) take the paper she flip because it's not fair to others, and she bloody ignored me. so while she's not looking i swapped her papers. it's no difference really, gosh. and that that bloody woman refused to pay first, say "wait wait, later i will pay". for what i don't know.
so lesson learnt? ignorance is bliss. maybe i should ignore such people in the future.
