Hullo.

[Here you have Ginny Weasley, leaning back from the camera and waving, a bright and hopeful smile gracing her freckled features. Crookshanks is in her lap and Arnold is purring on her shoulder - essentially the only family she's got with her right now. But perhaps it'll change today.]

This is Ginny Weasley. Er-

Oh, Miss Weasley - ever so terribly pleased to run into you. I'd thought for a moment I was all set for scones and despair on my very lonesome.

Ever sorry, Miss Weasley... caught you in a bad hour? Witching time and the like, I'd thought you'd be ever prepared at night.

For family and friends, yes. And you don't seem to fall into either category.

Devil's work, Miss Weasley, to listen to you now, one'd almost venture a suspicion that you're not all pleased by our encounter. Of course, I... understand you're probably simply caught aback.

It'll take more than you to scare me. Now. I'm different now.

But why would I want to scare you?

You're asking the wrong witch, Tom. Maybe you should ask yourself.

...I can't imagine what it was I've said or done to you, Miss Weasley, but I must say, you're being terribly... unwelcoming. You must imagine you can afford it.

Done to me? What you've done, you bastard, is something I won't let happen again. To me or anyone else.

Not used to not getting your way, are you? All that charm and manners. It's absolute shite and it won't work on me.

I don't... I don't understand. Have I hurt your feelings in some manner, or - rather, I - truly... I do apologize. For whatever it was, if you shan't care to tell me. I had only thought to find you well here, but somehow it appears I've only lent myself to your trouble.

[And for a moment, just a moment, this does get to her. Try as she might, Ginny can't entirely erase the fact that he had been her first friend at Hogwarts and it was this charm that won her over so easily. That this was her Tom, how he sounded, how this is all her eleven year old self ever wanted to hear him say when things starting getting so horrible and he was to blame.

But then she comes back to herself.]

Stop. Just stop it. You can't possibly apologise.

And if you're going to talk to me then at least talk to me like you really are. Don't think I believe what you're putting on for a minute.

...you're not the first to indicate there's a shift awaiting me, Miss Weasley. Throughout my tenure here - throughout my adolescence - many have... predicted a particular orientation to my character. I don't know what to make of it. I've considered... you'll laugh, but spared a few coins, I've considered consulting a Seer. A trifle, surely someone of my standing can't afford more, but... but when everyone insists, it's...

It's difficult not believing everyone's given up on you. I don't know what to do, or what to think, but of course that never matters, because everyone wagers I truly do, or ought to. In effect, Miss Weasley, we're rather of an age, except I've no longer prospects. Quaint, I imagine.

[And now she's trying to remember what he had told her through the diary about himself. She blocked most of it out but still.]

Prefect, weren't you? And Dippet's favourite too, I'd imagine. I know I'm not the first to say you've some sort of secret way about you, people not trusting you or believing you or thinking you were up to something. Of course I'm one of them. But don't play coy with me, Tom; you know you don't need a Seer. You've already got plans, haven't you?

Write in a diary recently, you lying bastard?
