A lot of countries in the Middle East still use flying carpets, though those're banned in Britain. You can't fly them and it's certainly against the law to charm any non-flying carpets.
My Dad works in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts department at the Ministry of Magic so he was involved in the passing of that legislation.
Have you flown on a carpet before---prior to the law coming into it, obviously? And what happens if you attempt to charm a carpet disinclined to become airborne?
I haven't ridden on a carpet, no. I mean, I can see the advantages to it-you can seat more people on it, obviously-but as for the consequences of breaking the ban? I've no idea.
I shouldn't be surprised.
Do you ever use things other than brooms--not so much for Quidditch, as flight in general?
