Fireworks are traditional, right? It would be nice to have some at New Years. If you want to save yours, we can always find some other ones, the shops must sell them.

...I don't know about the ball either, I'm afraid. Have you had any luck finding out about it?

I can't remember what the City did last New Year's, though. You'd think the deities would set off fireworks themselves, it definitely seems like the sort of thing they'd do, right?

Apparently it's called a bowling ball and you use it to knock over pins. Some sort of sport, I think.

Do you think? I've only been here a few weeks, I'm afraid I don't know much about the deities. I'm going to look for some fireworks anyway, just in case.

Oh, I guess that makes sense, sort of like bowls.

I've been here for a while now and I still don't know much about them. But, well. Fire and explosions and loud noises. Sort of seems like they'd like it.

... beg pardon?

...I'm not sure I'd want to see what the deities do with fireworks. That could end badly for all.

Bowls, I've never played the game myself but you're meant to roll a ball towards a smaller ball and see how close you can get to it.

My brothers with fireworks isn't exactly the safest combination either.

[A pause as Ginny considers this for a moment then shrugs with a bit of a grin.]

Well, I suppose that isn't too odd, considering the sorts of games we play back home. I'm Ginny, by the way. Hullo.

Are they that bad?

It's nice to meet you Miss Ginny, I'm Allen. What sort of games do you like?

They're that enthusiastic.

[She just looks vaguely amused right now, because explaining Quidditch isn't exactly the easiest when someone doesn't know you fly a broom. That's for later.]

Oh, erm. Gobstones? Which is sort of like a marbles game except if you lose a point, the stones like to spray this awful-smelling liquid in your face.

[Laughs] They sound like interesting people.

Really? [How gross] That's certainly motivation to win...

[It's fun, okay. In a horrible sort of way.]

I don't necessarily like to play it. I think watching people do it's more fun because you're well out of harm's way and you can still laugh about it.

That sounds like a much more successful strategy. Games are certainly interesting in your world.

[You have no idea.]

I've found a lot of worlds sound fairly interesting. You said you're still kind of new?

Mm, I am. I haven't heard a lot about others worlds.

You'll hear about them soon enough. The network's useful like that, people talking about home and all. Where're you from?

I'll have to keep an eye out. I'm from England, although I travel around a lot. What about you?

[The pleased grin that lights up Ginny's face is impossible to hide.]

I'm never sure if England exists in someone else's world. I should've known, though. I'm from England too, of course. Devon, to be exact.
