California Primary Registration

Nov 20, 2007 21:58

Well, this year the California primary is early enough to matter. I'm not even registered, but I think I will be. The question I have is which one to register for and vote in.

I know the voters went for open primaries, and I hat thought the legislature had mooted that, but I could be wrong.

Now on the republican side you have 7 loons and Ron Paul. I know he's not perfect, but I suspect after 8 years of Bush, he would be the ideal candidate to restore a constitutional government. He might have a shot (if the non insane Republicans realize he is the only one who is anything close to what they claim to believe in, he's a shoe in, not like that is going to happen). Realistically, he might do a good job monkey wrenching them, and spur a crippling independent run.

And he's been against the war and the patriot act from day one.

On the demo side, Hillary is Bush light (love her or hate her, it is hard to deny that she loves secrecy, and that is exactly what we don't need), and she is a politician first and foremost. I don't like her a bit.

I don't really know about the rest of them, but the behavior of the democrat controlled congress does not fill me with hope. Allegedly, the most libertarian person running is the former senator from Alaska, Mike Gravel. We will see how far he gets.

So, any thoughts?
