An open letter to the awesome people who are writing things for me.
3 Ships! Yuletiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide! Okay, so, I am excited to get a story in any of these fandoms! Writer, I trust your judgment, but here are some general likes and dislikes for your reference.
Things I don't like: cheating, mpreg, deathfic, and non-con/rape where the perpetrator is not an OC*. No, really, that's about it.
Things I do like: pining! understandable misunderstandings! working as a TEAM! especially when people don't like each other at first but have to work together for the SAKE of the TEAM (and then fall in love! or just have hot, semi-angry sex!) Loner/outcast characters making their own family, people being super-competent and other people appreciating that, sex pollen, zombie apocalypses, fluff with a happy ending, hurt/comfort with a happy ending, angst with a happy ending, angst with a very slightly hopeful ending, stories where the relationship dynamic changes (first times, established relationships move to another level, dysfunctional relationships become slightly less dysfunctional, etc), porn that says something about the characters. Hot and heavy sex is delightful, but I love chaste hand-holding and fade-to-black just as much--write what makes you comfortable and works for the story you want to tell.
I always feel like you can tell when a person writes something to make someone else happy and doesn’t enjoy it; I’d much rather have a story you loved writing than one you struggled with to fit my demands.
*: This is me trying to find a concise way to say that I love the characters in all these fandoms, even the villains in most cases, and I don't want to see any of them coercing someone into sex. However, I don't mind sensitively handled rape-recovery fics with an original character as the perp. (And by "don't mind", I mean "secretly love". SHHH, TELL NO ONE.) Just in case that is relevant to your writing process.
