Hmmm....So what I've been doing my last few days.
Watching movies is one. I went to watch soccer again on tuesday, which means after we went to a pub. Then played the trivia game. we came in fourth again. damn. but still. it was fun. then i went with carol and her brother in search of food. Japanese food. and one place they wanted closed just as we got there. and then a few others were closed. and we finally found a little japanese place in this nook of a space. the waitress was really cute. and we ate. I had a tempura set for only $5 which is good. it was tasty. shrimp and veggies tempura. mmmm...
then wednesday thru friday were boring. I've been working to finish the damn model before I leave. I'm finishing it on monday. just one thing left i think. But It's fancy andit lights up and such. I'm excited about that.
ON saturday I met up with Junko and her friends and went to this Young Blood design convention at the powerhouse museum. It wa pretty cool. lot of fashion and furniture and randomness. I bought these really cute pins. they describe akina and her bear massacres. to which I was amused, the other merchandise is apparently a tribute to akinas journey. she enjoys stealing the button eyes from bears.
then we went and had lunch at a pub underneath Holiday in in Chinatown. When yup. I finally got to eat Kangaroo meat. I was going to on tuesday during lunch, but spending most of my lunch hour searching for ken's recommended native australian restaurant, finally discovered that it had closed down 2 months ago....yeah. but It was awesome presentation of meat. I got an aussie mixed platter. and so they gave me the whole thing on a hot whet stone. the meat included turkey bacon, chicken, rump, and kangaroo. Basically I cooked it myself as it sizzled on the stone. It looked pretty raw when it came out, but turned out well. and it was tasty. i had had a salad before that and it came with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. and the massive amounts of meat were excellent.
after that we parted, as junko had to meet someone else for something at 4. so I went to the Chinese Garden of Friendship. It was pretty cool. I enjoyed walking thru it. i don't think it's as good as one I'd actual see in china of course, but it was still nice. I think there's was actually a wedding going on at it just before an some of those people were still around taking photos. After that I went to paddy's Market in search of souvenirs. I finally finished with spares and I think I've got something for everyone. I'm down a buck, but not out. I've probably spent an akon budget on souvenirs, but I won't be back for a while, so it's worth it I suppose. Plus I definitely got my fill of things.
After that I went down to SOH and Circular Quay to relax a bit before heading to the Opera. I took a few photos and then went on in, got my tickets. I was told I couldn't bring my camera inside for photos, or really photos anything of the interior. I should have done it anyways, since I saw others doing it. but damn. left my camera with the coat check. I sketched tho badly. well. I'm okay with 2 of them, but the third one makes no sense. that needed a photo. The bathrooms were really cool tho. Ken told me to check them out before and he was right, nice and fancy. La Boheme was wonderful. The music and singing of course made the show. the story itself seemed lacking to me, and of course the characters that truly interested me were supporting and not really shown as much. I like it tho. and then after the show i waited for autographs. it's really hard to recognize these people in plain clothes and when they're wearing hats and glasses and looked completely different from before. Damn. I mean I'm glad I even figured out some, and that'smostly because there looked similar to they char. So I got the concert master and conductor and most of the main cast except one person. which of course it my favorite character. I'm pretty sure I missed her. In fact, I bet I saw her, didn't recognize her, was too nervouse about asking for autographs. etc. I waited for an hour. I mean. It's really annoying to have gotten everyone but one person. They were too women who were working for SOH and had told me where to go to get autographs and they saw me waiting there. Both were really nice. the first asked about what was up, I told her who I was missing and she said, they probably left, since the green room is pretty empty, but she might be in the bar and that closed in ten, so she'd be down then. Then the next came down. shocked I was still there. (honestly I didn't really have much else to do. and I'm leaving the country, so I might as well try) but she was really nice, and went up herself to check if she was still there. I thanked her for the trouble. So I'm missing one autographs. annoying, but still cool I got any.
now I'm here in bed typing away. need to get up so I can go to manly beach. and then I go bowling in the evening. monday I finish the model and get my last paycheck, plus collect my apt deposit. then attempt to remain awake to begin time offsetting. an try to fit everything back into my bags. I think i can do it. we'll see.
Can't wait to be back. Hope everyone is well. sending the love.
hugs to the thousand.
