The hero unknown
The fire that struck the town of Sutton early Monday morning had one bright side: Richard Bailey.
He, his wife, and child were among several households residing on the second floor above Main St storefronts. It was Richard who was first alerted to the fire by his wife, and managed to roust everybody else out of the two buildings before they were gutted.
So who knew that he was my step-cousin? (In my defense, my uncle is on his third wife, and on her side I've only met her granddaughter/Richard's niece Mercedes.)
Regardless. Richard, you did a good thing.
