RUSTON LA - The day began over the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the nearly 24-mile bridge over calm water in the free direction (north) before having to stop off at a Best Buy in Covington.
Apparently, Chad had left his GPS cord attached when packing it in at the airport, which meant upon arrival, the "female" port had been damaged. Nothing Best Buy could immediately fix, so we resorted to alternate high-tech assistance (my iPhone) for in-town directions.
We got to Jackson way early for the game, so we first drove by the capitol for Chad's pictures. (I've been there before, so there was no need for a tour.) Still, we arrived at the ballpark at 12:15 for a 1:05 game - delayed to 1:30 because of threatening rain.
It was a weekday game in mid-August, so very few kids were attendance. However, one was lucky enough to be the 3,000,001st fan. (Dad got all the prizes.) He also saw a good pitching performance by Mississippi, as the Braves held Birmingham scoreless and to two hits.
The flat drive west on I-20 was broken up by us stopping on-campus at
Louisiana-Monroe for more pictures - again, I've been to this neck of the woods, so Chad already has the shirt - before arriving in Ruston, home of the Marshall-hated
Louisiana Tech.
So of course I found a Techster-themed restaurant for dinner, the
Dawg House. The Ruston Nachos that I had were apparently misclassified as an appetizer both in price and volume, as I was still nibbling on it long after Chad had finished his CBR (chicken-bacon-ranch) quesadillas.
