Movie diary: My word is my Bond

Sa5:15 Quantum of Solace, Park Place

With such an explosive debut in Casino Royale several years back, it was inevitable that Daniel Craig's sophomore outing could pale in comparison. And while the movie whipped by at breakneck speed (106min), it was still an enjoyable movie.

My only complaint with Craig's performance is that he seems too intense. All the other Bonds, while dealing with life-and-death situations, could always toss off a funny line to make the audience know everything'd be OK. But with the newest Bond, we just get cold icy stare -- an automaton with a licence to kill.

Having seen most all of the Bond movies, I particularly appreciated the shout-out to Goldfinger. (Watch the movie; you won't miss it.)

And for any Bond fan at any Bond movie, you always need to stay through the credits to see those four words that make you feel warm: "James Bond Will Return."
