Burn After Reading, Park Place Stadium
You have to wonder about how the Coen Brothers were raised by the Coen Parents. When you come up with such movies as Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, and the Oscar-nominated No Country For Old Men, you have an interestingly skewed sense of the world.
And so it continues with Burn After Reading. Some have complained about the pretzel-like plot, but I enjoy the fact that I actually need to pay attention to a movie to enjoy it.
An ex-CIA quits his job in lieu of an alcoholism intervention at work. His wife is slowly digging up information to divorce him.
Meanwhile at the local gym, a female fitness trainer decides that she is going to reinvent herself through cosmetic surgery. For Dr 90210, it'd be at least a four-parter if only her HMO would approve all the electives.
The joy is in watching the loose storyline threads come together into a nice neat bow. And as a bonus, David
Sledge Hammer Rasche plays one of the CIA agents.
