As always, we started off on Momside, where all the little kids reside.
Hanging around little children, especially during the holidays, can always provide sudden hilarious occurrences. But here's my favorite:
My cousin's little boy Hunter and I both reached for the same can of Coke in the refrigerator. Of course, him being 5, I won, but not before trying to reach around me for it.
While I was shuffling it around my waist, I backed up to Chad's wheelchair and slipped the can on his seat. (Chad was aware of what was going on.) Finally, I showed Hunter my empty hands and he walked off, confused.
When he saw the can on Chad's cushion, he asked, "Was that can there?"
Chad, answering truthfully if misleadingly: "Yeah."
"Oh." And Hunter walked off.

On Dadside, it was a red-letter day: I finally moved up to the grown-ups' table. Yeah, that did pull me away from the table in the sun room where the TV is, and I only got the seat because Mom died --
About that. The blessing in disguise is that it actually increased our food options around the table, and Mom always loved to cook, so she would appreciate that. I whipped up pasta salad and stuffing on-site, Chad brought
dirt cake (without the worms in the picture) and peanut butter pie... and Dad bought some cole slaw. Can't have him
overloading on the salt. -- but it was a fun change, and it was an honor.
