so....the good things that have happened between the slip into the 7th circle of Hell [training this morning] and my last post.
**Bought a BOMB program called GarageBand for Mac. Easiest recording method I've ever used, aside from sticking a P.O.S. tape recorder up to my guitar. Used the microphone on my laptop and got some kickass stuff out in about an hour. Drum loops that sounded real, keyboard stuff, kool effects, and much other funness! 25 dolla! my school gets like a 50% discount on most programs--very nice for the old pocketbook!
*****CONCERT!!!****
Played with Matt Neely this last sunday--one of the best 90-minute blocks of my life to date! Was practically soiling myself during practice [we only got 2 hours] but it all went well. Sometimes I think there's a part of me that only lives 3-4 minutes at a time--while I'm in "my happy place" as Brittany so accurately put it, I feel like my other lung starts breathing, making all of me just completely melt into the music so that there is no real separation--I'm no longer playing the music, I'm a part of it.
Anyone who has a similar addiction [doesnt have to be musical] can understand what I'm talkin about! It's the best drug in the world--to just let everything else burn away while giving yourself completely to something. It gives you a reason to get up in the morning and get through the crappy days.
I loved playing with Matt, and I loved helping other people see God through him and hopefully through me. That's what it's all about, really. We try, we fall, we do things we wish we didn't, we do things that other "christians" dont approve of, but none of that really matters. We are all broken--damaged goods, cracked clay jars that the world sees nothing extraordinary in. We will fall and we will be messy and that's OK. All that matters is that we find some way to reflect God through us to others.
