A collection of thoughts that ran through my head today:

- As I walked past a collection of books in the bookstore about "How to Say It - In the Office" and countless more on writing the perfect resume, I decided that I did not really want to be involved in any job involving any bullshit where you market yourself to someoney as a commodity. Granted I'm sure some non-profit organizations would require it anyway, but it did get me off on another train of thought involving

- Being an activist and a journalist. The former idea had already been brewing in my mind for some time now. After all, what better work - in the true sense of the word - is there than trying to see through the bullshit, find the truth, and work toward a solution to the world's problems? The journalist idea... Well, as I was hunting for good books to read on Amazon.com I noticed a lot of people would put cameras and other such equipment in their recommended items lists. And then I found out about Bhutan's modernization campaign (see entry below). Then I thought about writing a letter to the Bhutanese government. Then I thought about traveling there. THEN I realized that I have wanted to travel to all sorts of countries for a long, long time, but not in the twisted sense that tourism promotes (see next thought). Ah, so lucky to have randomly picked up an interest in foreign languages...

- Some example of Third World oppression I had a discussion about recently is LUXURY CRUISES. What better juxtaposition of First World "leisure" and Third World suffering than the cruise ship, where the affluent and ignorant sunbathe and gamble it up for a week at the expense of a cheap imported labor force (to give the cruise an "international" feel) and the exploitation of local cultures (tourism is one of the vilest industries ever).

- Got me onto the next train of thought about industry. Kind of an extension of anti-corporatism, but I have thought often about pre-Industrial Revolution life. Granted, that's "industry" in a slightly different sense of the word, but I think something is wrong when food, meat, water, art, music, ... living itself have become "industries" that are like pyramid schemes.
