Okay, it's been a while since my last update- so sue me.
I spent about a week and a half sampling a bit of the bachelor life (sort of). My parents left on vacation to Florida (borrrring!) and I got to stay home. It was fun feeling independent, and being able to come and go as I please, but I think house upkeep took its toll on me after a week or so.
Now, don't get me wrong, it was fun doing laundry and ironing my clothes and cooking and all that, all for myself (well, with a little help from Carrie ;) ), but there were a couple days where it felt like any time that I wasn't spending with Carrie was spent on chores. I even had a morning routine for myself (ugh, a routine).
I noticed that I started to lose interest in doing pretty much anything except laying around and napping (I didn't want to buy any CDs, had trouble thinking of where to eat out, didn't want to play guitar, didn't want to study Japanese...). One day I got a total of 14 hours' sleep (including day naps). One night I got really worried and depressed- Carrie said she'd call it a nervous breakdown. We were also worried that we might be losing interest in each other, since we hadn't really talked all that much that day, but that quickly passed by the next day, thankfully.
Carrie recommended that I indulge myself and not be so hard on myself, let myself spend a little time just doing nothing (that's hard for me) during the day. So I went out and spent a lot of money on CDs, and I felt relatively normal again.
I got a combination water-wax clog in my ear the next day after swimming in the pool, though, and a tough one at that. We tried everything we could think of to cure it, but I stayed half-deaf for a couple days, until my parents got home.
That day, I instantly felt better, and then I went to the doctor and got my ears cleaned. I'm happy to report I'm back to normal now.
I indulged myself some more, though, still- haha- I have a new acoustic guitar :D A Carvin Cobalt. It's just phenomenal. I can't believe I didn't get an acoustic sooner.
