i don't know if anyone will really care

but you can purchase (for download) the new radiohead album for free from their website. I've never been a huge fan of radiohead, but I am a huge fan of free.

they will...they're millionaires and this is a brilliant business move on their part. they're letting people download the tracks for free and selling the discbox for $81.

Smashing Pumpkins have done it too...

it's one thing for a band to do it. It's another thing when you're a band that does it knowing full-well that you could make a billion dollars if you didn't do it.

I mean, how much money was Harvey Danger going to make on their last album? They probably had just as good of a chance to break even by printing fewer copies of it.

i didn't realize anyone here was wetting their pants over it. I think the big thing that sets this apart from what other bands have done is that they're actually selling it for the option of free, as in if you want to support them you can pay $6 for the album...or you can pretend like it's iTunes and pay $10 for the album or $.99 per song, whatever you feel the music is worth.

oh...thanks for the heads up on the free Harvey Danger...free stuff is awesome.

i agree that it's genius.. bands make their money off touring anyway, and this will probably sell even more concert tickets for them.
