M, who we met in Sydney and who went diving and sightseeing with us in Cairns, stayed a couple of weeks longer in Australia than we did. She just got back and sent us her photos, so I finally have photographic evidence that, yes, I went scuba diving!!!
First, here's a much better shot of the little sound-making device that I built during the conference in Australia.
I call it the "soxillator" and it's really fun to play with. I ended up using it in the demonstration I did at work on Friday of handheld electronic music/sound devices that promote social interaction. Did I mention that I love my job?
This is a much better picture of one of the giant clams we saw. I've saturated the colors, but it still really doesn't do justice to what things looked like under the surface.
Here's me being not happy. This was our first meal of the day after the really terrible travel experience, and I still hadn't gotten food yet. My life got much better after the food arrived, and I was able to really get into the fun of the vacation, but at this point, I was grumpy. Oh, and I ordered the seafood basket listed on the board above my head.
At the zoo, on our sightseeing day, I fed the swamp wallabies.
And finally a couple of shots of the swimming hole that we went to in Mossman Gorge. This is L at the west end.
And this is M at the east end.
