Another day of riding brought them to the castle. Jared and Tristan were immediately impressed by the welcome they received. Although there were different classes of people, none were as oppressed as Jared and Tristan had been. Jensen's generosity and that of his family extended to the people of their kingdom.

There were some shops set up, selling everything Jared could imagine. He just took it all in as he rode in with Jensen.

Four people stood at the door of the castle to greet them -- King John, Prince Daniel, Princess Sophia and Prince Lucas.

"Tristan, so happy to see you again," Prince Lucas shook his hand.

"Tristan!" Sophia came and embraced him. "I'm so sorry about Adeline."

Tristan kissed her forehead as he saw tears well in her eyes. "I'm sorry, too, Sophia. But, she gave me a wonderful son. There was so much more she could have done but at least she was allowed to do that."

Jensen dismounted and then helped Jared.

"Jensen took his hand," Time for you to meet my parents," he told him. When he saw the look of terror on Jared's face, he added, "They already like you, Jared. You're already family. Don't worry."

Jared gave him a shaky smile as he allowed Jensen to lead him over.

"Nice to finally meet you, Jared," Lucas said as he shook his hand. "I hope you and your father will be happy here."

"I'm sure we will, Sir," the words caught in Jared's throat.

"Let me see you," Sophia pushed Lucas out of the way. "You have your mother's eyes." With that conclusion, she melted into tears again. "I'm sorry it took so long for us to find you, Jared. If we had known--we would have sent for you and your father immediately."

Jared's eyes were filling with tears, too. He could only nod.

Jensen broke in," Mother, Jared is fine. He's tired from our journey but otherwise unharmed by the whole experience. I'm worried about Tristan. He needs to see the royal doctor for his cough and don't let Tristan tell you that he doesn't."

Sophia nodded and hurried off to tell the royal doctor and fuss over Tristan.

"I'm King John," the elderly man stepped forward. "I'm glad to have you here and as a spouse for Jensen. He deserves an attentive spouse, just as you do."

"Thank you. I'm just glad to be here."

"I'm Prince Daniel but you can just call me Daniel," another man said as he shook Jared's hand. "You'll find that we're all family here. If we can do anything to make your stay more enjoyable, just let us know."

"Thank you," was all Jared could muster up as a response with uneasiness overtaking him.

Jensen tugged at Jared's elbow. "Let me show you my quarters so you can get some rest."

"I don't mean to be a bother."

"You're never a bother, Jared. You're my husband and I just want to take care of you.

Jared nodded shyly as Jensen made their excuses for both of them.

"What do I address your family as? Do I use their titles?" Jared asked as soon as they were out of earshot.

"No, we drop the titles when were' just talking to each other. If you're talking to someone who isn't royalty, like the servants or commoners in the kingdom, use our titles. Remember that you'll have one, too. After we're married you'll be Prince Jared, like you should have been back home."

“That sounds just weird to me, Jensen. You seem like a prince but I am the furthest thing from. I work getting dirty, doing what others won’t or can’t do. They’re the kind of jobs that kill men young but you appreciate when they’re there and there is nothing else available to feed the mouths at home.”

“You will never work again like that, Jared. You life will be much easier here. It’s going to take time to adjust, but there are people here to help you.”

Jared nodded as Jensen turned down yet another hall.

“How do I keep from getting lost here?” Jared was in awe of the extravagance of it all. “My quarters have green tones to it. My parents’ quarters have pink tones because it’s my mother’s favorite color, Daniel’s quarters are blue, and Grandfather John’s are red. The rest of the castle is mostly while.”

‘So I’m safe when in the green tones?”

“You’re safe everywhere, Jared. You can roam the gardens or pastures in perfect safety. We’ll just need to choose a body guard just for you.”

Jared nodded.

“Are you tired, honey?” Jensen asked.

“It was a long ride today.”

“Yes, it was. Want to lie down?”

“I don’t want to be inconsiderate. Your family wants to see you and if I sleep you’ll be running back and forth to check on me and not have much fun.”

“I would never run back and forth,” Jensen scoffed at him. “I’d be by you the whole time. Now, you lie down and get some rest.”

Jensen opened the covers while Jared took his shoes off.

“Are you comfortable to sleep in that outfit or should I see what else I have in my closet?”

I’ll be fine,” Jared skimmed out of the pants and just wore his tunic.

Jensen helped Jared lie down, covered him up and kissed his forehead. “I need to go get ready now,” he whispered in Jared’s ear like it was some dark secret.

Jared was asleep by the time Jensen slipped into bed beside him. Jensen just put his arms around Jared, holding him close in their bed. Jared's breathing put Jensen to sleep.
