So this weekend I went out of town to Athens, Texas to visit my cousin before he goes off to A&M in the fall, it was a lot of fun and gave me a lot of inspiration for the story I'm currently writting.
We woke up every morning at almost five to get in early wakeboarding sessions and when it rained we either played wakeboarding video games, read wakeboarding magazines, or watched wakeboarding movies. I got a bit daring and tried to throw a tantrum but didn't get my legs around fast enough and ended up landing face first in the water (a tantrum is a backflip btw) then tried wakeskating, which I'm not very good at or into, but my friend got a brand new one in and I just HAD to try it. It was much smaller than usual wakeskates (it was the size of a skateboard, usually they're about the size of a boogie board) so I kept missing on all my grabs and ended up having about half the lake go up my nose on the wipe outs. When I got the courage to go back on the wakeboard, my friends convinced me to try out their rail. They made a floating rail on their own and my cousin had broken it the day before by trying to throw a scarecrow then land in a boardslide (scarecrow is a frontflip 540) But they'd fixed it with duck-tape so I gave it a whirl and it ended up breaking again. I'm used to grinding on wakeskates because it's so much like skateboarding and I can do it all from memory, but when I felt the rail cracking I couldn't jump off with my feet in the bindings. Half of the pipe swung out and I banged my thigh on it when I was going down. It sucked, I couldn't go out for the rest of the day, but the guys thought I was the coolest damn thing to come out of houston for doing it.
We went out fishing and caught dinner instead of having a later session. I got some footage of the guys wakesurfing at night, it's the only time to really wakesurf, otherwise your just wasting smooth water that you could be throwing tricks on. But it's too dark to see at night and all you do is ride out the wake on a surfboard, no tricks involved unless you can throw a wake big enough to curl, which I don't think is possible.
Anyways, I'm sure a lot of this doesn't make sense, but it was a lot of fun and I can't wait to go back in August and do it all over again.
