The Sinister Side of Cat Ownership

Terri-ちゃん (cutiepi314) asked me for a new song about cat vomit for her birthday. (That's an unusual commission, even for me.) Alack and alas, of the hundred catchy tunes running through my head courtesy of chillyrodent's 80s compilation and certain Christmas gifts, not one lends itself to adaptation for cat barf lyrics. Instead, I hope she'll accept this true story ( Read more... )

Hurray!

I actually paused at the warning, but then remembered that we share our quarters with eight of the jet-propelled darlings.

We should hold a barfing contest. Our two cats against your eight. Sounds like a rather lopsided battle, but Math and Pandora are inveterate barfers with 28 years' puking experince between them; and I've never encountered cats so inclined to blorp at the drop of a kibble. They are Grand Masters of the Art, with certified two-way digestive systems.

Urrghh. Reminds me of the old days when our cats would leave chicken wings around the house.

Happily, Dana the doglet doesn't indulge in vomiting very often but it can make up in volume what it lacks in frequency. And, sometimes, the content leads the osberver on an immediate tour of that wonder spot of southern Montana, Rising Gorge.

When she does get barfy, there's nothing for it but to refer to her as "little Svetlana", after the Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina.

She has taken her new Internet song-writing fame remarkably well. She didn't hit me at all.

Thank you so much for typing out the lyrics to "Blackfly" and including a link! I saw that short probably 15 years ago, and absorbed the chorus, but never from that day to this have I been able to find it again!

Your catbarf story was hilarious, too. :) I'm sorry to hear about Pandora.

Thanks! Well, you're in luck-the Canadian National Film Board has placed Blackfly on its Web site to view for free! I know that it also appears on a video compilation of Canadian animation, but I forget the name of the video.
