follow up on the last entry: i went back to the house on thursday and daniel had cleaned everything up. i saw him later and he apologized (only after i did, so i don't think he meant it but at least he took responsibilty for his actions) so it's all forgotten. although i did find out that the window in the living room got broken and there are holes in the two drawings i had placed in that window. grr.
friday sarah and i drank tea that i made with the mushrooms that reid bought me for valentine's day (simultaneously the best and worst valentine's day present ever. my boyfriend need to rethink his definition of romantic). cj kind of licked the teaball and drank the dregs, so it was basically the three of us giggling for a few hours and riding kids bikes around the circle until becca came over and took me to the store to buy bread and steal peanut butter. some guy at harris teeter said to me "weren't you in here earlier? yeah, i remember" in a way that just creeped me the fuck out. like, did he mean he thought i was eating all the samples (because i was) or did he know i was on something? anyways, i got hood-winked by some girlscouts on the way out. i bought cookies from them and was kind of silly about it (but i figured it was ok to be a little silly because of the way i was dressed) and only after we had gotten back into the car did i realise how much money i had spent on cookies. i was pissed... but in a happy-on-mushrooms sort of way. then we went home and reid and becca and cj went to get some weed and while i was sitting alone in the living room this woman comes up to the door. i must have looked odd just sitting in the darkening living room staring into space:
woman in sweatpants and baggy sweater: "i noticed you guys have a lot of bicycle in your yard..."
me, thinking: "don't worry, we're moving" but actually managing to say: "... yeah."
woman: "well, i have a bike that needs a part"
me, glad i didn't open my mouth sooner: "oooooh! well, everyone that knows where everything is just left, but maybe i can help. what is it that you need?"
woman: "well, i have this bike in my car" points to minivan i notice is parked at the end of our driveway. she walks me over to it. it is filled with a unicycle-style big wheel and three small children in car chairs. the mushrooms are still in full effect.
so it turns out she needed a unicycle part for this big wheel and i told her to come back in like, 20 minutes when reid and cj would be there. so reid and cj and becca come back and the lady shows up again and we told her we didn't really have any spare unicycle parts laying around. she was really nice to us and asked that if she couldn't replace the part would we want the frame. she said that they lived around the corner and that her husband had read about us in the scene and they'd seen us ride by before and that they thought it was sad we had to move out. it was just weird for me because last time i tripped shrooms, our next door neighbors were really nice to us and gave us a bunch of stuff because we had just moved in.
anyways, so then we went upstairs and smoked a bunch of weed and that made everything EVEN BETTER! eventually reid went drinking with parker and bridget and cj and i went on a bike ride because i "rescued" this old roadmaster renegade from the backyard while i was on the mushrooms and i got really attached to it and wanted to ride it everywhere. we were out until like, 2 in the morning. needless to say, i was exhausted by the time we got home.
so anyways, we've got about a week to move out and we still don't have a definite place to put everything. we can keep bikes at walker's house for now, but i'm hesitant to pack up all my clothes and personal belongings without a place to take them because i don't want to find myself in the position of needing something that is packed away in the bottom of some cardboard box in the backseat of my car.
reid turned in our applications for this one bedroom we found on hillside near centennial and west end. he said the woman told him that they'd just lowered the rent from $625 to $600, so perhaps they're desperate enough to rent the place out that they'll just give it to us without asking why we left the credit portion of our applications blank (not to mention i don't really have any real credit aside from student loans).
the apartment is sweet as hell. the location is prime (though at the top of a hill, but whatever. that just means all my bike rides to work will be downhill!) and rent is affordable and the place is bigger than most other $600/1bedroom apartments in the area. it's got really high ceilings and i made sure the shower and toilet both work. and there's a long hallway that is just begging to be covered with art and posters. oh god, i hope we get it.
i've been job hunting with sarah for the past two weeks. she got a call back from the green hills theatre as well as everything but water, the bathing suit store in green hills mall. she went in for an interview at the movie theatre and now she's got orientation on thursday. we're both psyched about this job because not only will we get into basically any and every movie for free from here on out, but yesterday she met jim ridley and we've already got a scheme to get in good with him and possibly get sarah a position writing for the scene. he already asked her to write something about some guy who's coming into town to give a speech about the death of DVD by means of blu-ray (psht, whatever). and then yesterday we both got a call from bruegger's on 21st. we were interviewed this afternoon by the manager who is taking over that specific location and she's looking to basically replace the current staff. she's starting us both off at $7.50 working part time and after she's weeded out whoever it is she wants to fire, she plans to bump us up to $9 for full time at about 35-40 hours a week. i need to call david at panera and let him know about this. hopefully i'm not fucking everything up because i really love working at panera. for the first time ever, i like all of my coworkers and the pay is great, but i am simply just not making enough money. with the bruegger's job i'll be making somewhere around $1400 a month which is extremely desirable and she said that if we move up in the company that assistant and managerial jobs receive a bimonthly bonus. not to mention i'll be working with sarah brown for the first time ever and that'll make things easier or at least more comfortable.
becca is going to nit-pick my hair now because i found a louse the other day. fingers crossed!
