Hi I am a friend of Misty B. (Not a "personal" friend but I know her brother Travis and a friend of her's from high school in Washington) I think her spirit is awesome and he caring nature made me finally chek your LJ out.
I am an animal rescuer by nature. When we lived on 10 acres we had 7 dogs, 9 cats and a constant stream of roommates and transent people we knew.
When our landlord decided he didn't want to repair the damaged floor in the home on the 10 acres we had to move.
So... what did I do with all the animals? Well instead of dropping them off at the local animal shelter or just setting them free I told my former landlord I COULD NOT move until all the animals had been placed successfully in new homes. He and his wife allow this to be the stipulation. It took us 6 weeks to place all but three of the dogs and one of the cats which we took with us on the move.
When it again came time to relocate due to gaining custody of my two children I had to place the last of the two dogs from the original 7 in one new home. (we moved into a larger apartment which at the time did not allow dogs/cats) (They were bassett hound sisters and we refused to give, yes, I said GIVE them to different homes) They went to an elderly lady in Rochester WA who has successfully bread both of them. The other dog we kept went to a family with 4 children... she was VERY happy and has since passed on due to old age (She was 7-9 years old when we rescued her 3 years ago) Yje one kitty mysteriously disappeared one afternoon. (We think the hermit lady "Adopted" him which was Ok with us -- She was much nicer after Kitty went missing and she loved him and he loved her)
Since then we have adopted a Jack Russel mix, a mouse and a rat. (our landlord relaxed he no dog/cat restruction when my son went to him and explained where the dog was coming from and why he wanted her.) (Her former owner is a cancer patient and could no longer take care of her. Her former owner is a 13 year old boy who was heart broken that he had to give his dog up but understood the burdon she was become and how unhappy the dog was being left alone for hours sometimes days)
Well now that I have rambled your ear off I hope that you don't mind that i added you. I also support the Lewis County Animal Shelter here in Centralia Washington by giving pet food, blankets and a few dollars when I can.

Wow, you've had a zoo!!!! LOL Glad you were able to find all the dogs and cats homes. That is quite a feat!! Nice of your landlord to give you the time to do it too. :)
I feel sorry for the 13 yr old but glad you were able to take in the Jack Russell mix. That should give him much comfort knowing his dog is well taken care of and loved.

We adopted a mouse from Petco for a dollar (The cage and supplies cost 100x more... LOL) The proceeds for the Mouse went to the county animal shelter in Olympia WA.
The rat well She was a gift to my oldest son... a pet he loves dearly
The little boy who gave up his dog has an open invitation to come and visit... he hasn't been able to take us up on the incitation yet due to being sick... but we are hoping he can come a visit Arlene (the dog) soon.
One day I want to have a LOT of land and LOTS of rescued animals. Oh yeah and the money to care for them all.
