Thank you my Animal Loving Friend!!!! I've got a call into the Petco director to see if they will donate some funds to help them out too. Hopefully, they stand up to their stance that they care about animals and will call me back and come through with some assistance.

"Update 11/23 1:00 pm
Snapper, Dixie, Daisy and Precious are alive (dogs)! Some of these weren't listed on our site yet. Daisy and Precious are alive but very sick from smoke inhalation. Snapper and Dixie have been sighted running loose near the shelter, too scared to be caught. Daisy and Precious are at the vet's now. Daisy is listed on Petfinder (dalmatian mix). I do not know what breed/size the other 3 dogs are.

So they will have more vet expenses and they hadn't even paid off their huge vet bill prior to this.
I hope we keep getting more reports of ALIVE animals.
I can't even begin to imagine...... Gosh - even *here* - we have 6 cats, 2 dogs, and a Beta fish... how would we count noses and make sure all are out and safe ...
I will continue to hold the folks and the animals in my thoughts...
Wow, you have a zoo!!! LOL I'm like you with 4 dogs and 3 birds. I try to go over a plan in my head of what to do if there is a fire. Push what I can out the back door into the fenced yard (remember to close back door so they can't get back in) and grab my car keys and stick what ever animals I can get out the front door into the car for their safety.
It *is* quite a zoo - but you're rarely without a furry head to pet... LOL!! Let's see... one of my dogs was adopted from a home that *clearly* had too many doggies, the other was "found on the net" thru Petfinder when I was looking at kittens...(so I tell people I found him on eBay, then tell them the *real* story) ... LOL! In order, the cats are from a shelter adoption fair, a foundling, another foundling, from the shelter, and the pair of orange sisters where "dumpees" out here. (All are neatly spayed and neutered)
The fish, I consider a rescue from the shelf at WalMart (OMG)
BTW - Mocha the manx here says "purrrrrr"...! (that's her baby pic in the icon)
I also wanted to look into it, to verify (you how these things can be) And it appears quite valid (I should have done this first..)
For any of you folks wondering, here is the news article I just found: It says it is not to be re-distrubuted, but I do know that sometimes when you go back to the URL on some of the news pages, the news is updated or gone. So in the interest of all of the animal-loving folk who may read this, I post the following article: (http://www.wtrf.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory&storyid=6859&catid=88)
MASON COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER EXPLOSION Posted 11/22/2005 05:26 PMDozens of animals are dead and more than 50 are now homeless after an explosion
( ... )
Absolutely! I too checked it out and should have posted yesterday my sources but was frantic to get the word out. :)
This is a very poor community and they have been working to educate their residents about spaying and neutering and are working hard to become a no-kill shelter. You can see that by some of the dogs they had listed on petfinder. They've kept some dogs for many months trying to find them homes.
I just hate that they have worked so hard to help their community's animals and then to have lost everything. :(
