have you signed your donor card?

Last week I volunteered for BC Transplant. I sat in a booth in the BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital cafeteria. I spoke to people walking by about transplants and convinced them to sign their donor cards.

It felt good to be helping but to be honest it was also a really frustrating experience. I respect other people's decisions and sometimes feel that canvasing people in their workplace isn't always appropriate. Especially in a hospital you don't know what other people are dealing with at the moment. It's not always a good time.

And sometimes, the people I have to work with behind the booth don't feel the same way I do. And they can be very forward. And sometimes they don't even know that much about transplant and end up spreading misinformation.

This is frustrating. It's also hard because they are also volunteering their time for a cause that I believe in.

I work really hard to kindly educate them and share my vision on how to nicely approach people.
