Hello. My name is Eva.

Hello to all my friends.

I am very sorry that I have not updated sooner.

I was in hospital in october and this time it took quite a while to recover. I haven't been very very ill. Just borderline feeling awful for way too long. And there have been a number of events that I have had to save up all my energy for then as soon as they are over I crash again and it takes a few days to recover from very ill to only slightly ill.

Part of the main problem is that when I was in the hospital I had the worst sinus infection I've ever had to the point that mucous was being excreated from my eyes. A white film covered my eyes almost all the time and I couldn't see. While I tried to wipe my eyes clean of the gunk I ended up covering the sensitive skin around my eyes with salty gunk and the skin was so very irritated that my eyes became chapped and it was hard to open them.

I went home earlier than I was comfortable with because the bugs I was growing were treatable with oral antibiotics (crazy eh??) so there was no point in staying in club med.

Once I was home I realized I still had quite a ways to go in my recovery. As you all know I am not very good at doing nothing so this has been a hard lesson for me to follow. But I have been good. Very good. All I have done is stay home, work on a giant 1500 pice puzzle and repeatedly clean my house. The most frustrating part has been not being able to keep up with school.

I can't read very well and even when I do manage to read a bit for school....hours later I have no recollection of what it was that I read. I've been on painkillers for my acting up pleuresy and for the back pain I get when coughing that amount. Also the coughing and sinus infection has lead to vomiting repeatedly throughout the day and night. I have not been sleeping very well because of this and the pain which leads to awful nights and groggy days.

Today is the first day that I have felt like myself for a very long time......hence the update.

Things that have happened since my last entry....

1) The lovely Kassia came to visit for a very exciting weekend. I spent the week before and after recovering but it was a very fun time indeed. She was here for two awesome reasons.....

2) one- (i realise this is a not very functional way to count.....whatevs!)
Halloween!!!! - my absolute very FAVOURITE holiday ever as it involves lots of face/body painting, costumes, candy, children, costumes...oh did I mention facepainting?

My day started at 7:00 a.m. when my cousin Cameron (Hannah's dad) came over for me to paint him like a zombie from Thriller. On my recomandation he had bought a suit and ripped it all up and covered it with dirt and baby powder and the like. I painted him up and by 7:30 he looked downright Frightening! He went straight to work (BC Hydro) where there was a compitition between 150 employees (he's the manager) for best zombie....He WON!!! And now he's going to take me out to dinner. Awesome!

Then (after a couple more hours sleep) Evangeline came over before work as well. She is a server/floor manager at Earls. Earls is a higher class chain restaurant in Canada. Normally they have a pretty strict dress code....little black dresses or something similar...but on halloween they were allowed to be creative. Evan did wear a little black dress...but I face/body painter her as a LEOPARD first. So. Much. Fun. She told me that every single person she saw that day was either turned on, intimidated or very very intrigued.

Ming and I then picked up both my cousin Rachel (from Toronto) and Kassia from the airport. We returned home and got ready ourselves. We weren't going anywhere special, just a friends house for the evening but the fun part is the dressing up!

Rachel was a last minute robot. Hmmm....somehow I don't have pictures of her costume. Curious.

Kassia was the 1960's version of Catwoman.

Ming was a Lion.

And I was Poison Ivy.

Graham and Shawna were Borgs from Star Trek.

Chris K was a Lion Tamer (totally by accident....he didn't even know Ming was going to be a Lion and vice versa)

Chris W was Cap'n Crunch.

James was a guy who owned a yacht.

I got stuck in Rachel's Robot Head.

The Evil Villianesses

two - The Gala!!!

The 65 Roses Gala was Saturday November 1st (which is why we took it easy on Halloween). My mother spoke and did a marvelous job. Elequent, honest and heartfelt. I was so proud of her. She spoke about being a Cysitc Fibrosis Family. How it does not affect only the person with CF but also the parents and sibling and extended family and friends. She told other families stories as well as our own. From diagnosis to accepting the fact that you will outlive your child she tore at the heart of every mother and father in the crowd. I truly believe she was a major part of the success of the evening. Greg's mother, Jackie was also instrumental in making the evening a success. She helped with the organization of the event and turned it into a flamenco theme.
There were flamenco dancers before dinner and a spanish guitar and singer throughout. On every table there were black lace fans and red trimmed mens hats. Red roses of course were everywhere and after the speeches everyone let loose and danced it up on the dance floor. There were games of chance for charity and an outstanding silent and live auction. The tickets were 175$ each and the dinner was exquisite. Steak and prawns and NY cheesecake for dessert.
My guests who came to support both my mother and me were my roomates (new and old) Quinn, Ming and Kassia. Family; Annie, Hunter, my cousins Rachel and David. Family friends; Sarah Lynn, Jordan and about 20 of my parents friends. Gregs parents had a table of friends as did Phillips parents. So sad Greg wasn't able to come as he was still on tour. Force Four Entertainment bought a table and brought Phil, Namisha, Justin and Mike. Here are some photos from the evening!!

In the cab on the way down...

We are here!
