a prelude to caroling!
Today is the day!!
I am so very very excited!
Arrangements are being made. Baked beans are in the slow cooker. The ham is in the oven. My best girlfriends are coming over early to help prepare the vegetables and last minute decorations. The tree is beautifully covered in lights, ribbons, glass balls and homemade decorations. My wall of love is up.
This morning my family helped me experiment with ustream to make sure the audio and visuals would work. We are going to use my mom's macbook (my old laptop couldn't handle video streaming...it can barely post pictures!) and set it atop the piano. From there it will stream the view of my bed in front of the wall of love. All my friends will gather round and sing merrily for all the world to see!
First I want to share this video with you. To explain...
This past summer I was asked by the Toronto chapter of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to travel to Toronto and give a speech at the annual Fall Fundraising Gala. I gladly accepted and was excited to move to Toronto for my job at Sick Kids Hospital and be able to speak at the Gala. In september, when I was diagnosed with chronic rejection I had to inform the CCFF that I would be unable to speak at their event due to the uncertainty in my future regarding my health. They suggested that instead of not speaking at all, that I record my speech here in Vancouver, send it to them and they would play it on a video screen on the night of the Gala.
This is exactly what I did! My aunt Annette attended the Gala on my behalf and introduced the preview of the documentary, followed by my pre-recorded speech. Keep in mind that some of the information in this video is no longer current. (I am now on the transplant list, I do need oxygen 24/7)
I want to share these two videos with you here today/tonight so that you understand why I am trying to raise money for this important cause.
