It's amazing how much we don't realize how much we are shaped by our childhood and our parents. After covering Freud and personality in our textbooks, I reflected a lot on myself and my past and realized the truth in his words. I've been watching my brother grow up too, and he makes an excellent subject for observing how accurate Freud is. (He favors his mother by a long shot, and he treats my dad like he's not even his father.)
If you really love psychology more than anything else, you should pursue a career in it, no matter where you have to move and how much money you make (you can easily live off of less than 40K).
I thought I'd enjoy psychology because I've always been interested in the brain, the way people deal with things, mental disease. I never imagined that the class at our school would A. Be taught by the most boring teacher in the school or B. Force me to memorize boring definitions about learning styles and other uninteresting subjects. I wish I could pick out which parts I liked and just say screw it to everything else.
you know, when you analyze just the only child part it makes you seem weird. but every different type of child is different. no one gets to be special or weird or whatever the hell it is we like to think. we are all just the way the environment around us made us and we all just have to cope with that. there aren't that many variations and people have been making it alive for years so i don't think that we should focus too much on it. even though i think it is interesting. people just like to hear things that describe themselves so they can be like "oh ya, that's definately me!"
sorry, i'm a little fucked up right now. i'm not sure if that makes sense.
We don't talk nearly as much as we should but I always do like your entries. You should update more often, it seems like you always have something worthwile to talk about. Anyway, I hope things are going well for you, I'm still having a blast. I'm not on lj too often but entries are generally ridiculously boring so ttyl and take care.
