Summary: Early morning was the best time of the day
Early morning, Murasaki considered, when the sun was just rising, was the best time of the day. With most of the Gao Warriors still asleep she could meditate and walk across Sky Island without interruption, preparing herself for the day ahead. The Org attacks were growing more frequent and she feared that soon the day would come when they would be battling every day, with no pause for rest. With that being the case, she cherished these quieter days while she could, fixing the memories firmly into her mind.
A warm breeze drifted past her and she turned, pausing in her morning stroll as Shirogane waved at her, flute in hand as he hurried to catch up. She smiled, warmed as always by his presence. Shirogane wasn't a morning person, a fact she knew well, yet he never failed to join her every morning, his flute the accompaniment as she sang for GaoDias. It was a routine she had grown accustomed to and was one she didn't want to give up. When they returned to Gao's Rock they would fall back into familiar roles: the Priestess and the leader of the Gao Warriors, but here and now, in this quiet period time they could just be themselves, without worries about the war crushing them or having to maintain at least a semblance of propriety, for the rest of the village at least, if not the Gao Warriors.
Maybe one day it would different, she thought, as they reached the place where GaoDias waited for them. Maybe once (if, a quieter part of her mind whispered) they'd defeated the Orgs, maybe then things would change. And wasn't that what they were fighting for? To create a better future as well as protecting everything they cared about from the destruction the Orgs sought?
Tilting her face to the newly risen sun, feeling the warmth of the sun's rays falling across her face, the clear notes of Shirogane's flute rising into the air, Murasaki sang.
