Conrad Weller arrived on Earth a tainted, bitter man, the insides of his heart painted black with the lonliness that threatened to consume him. His only salvation, the glowing sphere of a soul, white with purity and the promise of redemption, glowed warm in his grasp like the sun.
Ever, ever so slowly, the warmth spread purifying the man by chasing the night away; the gift of renewal.
On his last day, with a final goodbye, the action of a simple child reaching out in offering changed Conrad completely. Like the sun he had been associated with, the infant king left his mark, a golden handprint that was imprinted in the blank walls of Conrad's heart, streaking across until nothing but his warmth could be detected.

Gentle breathing breaks the early morning silence often associated with a pindrop; the birds still nest, the rest of the castle sleeps while the lovers begin to stir. Charcoal meets sandpaper eyes in groggy greeting and uninhibited flickers of emotion. A wordless understanding is met as sheets rustle softly in movement, the shift of love in the making.
Finally, sound dawns anew in the form of a pleasurable cry of his lover's name.

When the seasons permitted, Yuuri and Conrad would frequently enjoy the quiet of Shin Makoku’s display of stars from the hillside overlooking the baseball field. Sometimes they would talk, discussing mundane things such as plans for the upcoming week or Conrad would share a nugget of knowledge for his young king to incorporate into the next day’s lesson with Gunter, but most times they laid in a silence that enveloped the two companions like a comfortable quilt.
That night was a bit cooler than ones they usually sat out in, but the sight of Yuuri’s first lunar eclipse was not to be hindered by windows or even balconies; from here, there were no interruptions for the two spectators, be it sight or sound.
As the moon fell into the shadow of the planet and began to slowly disappear, the world was enveloped by sky and stars. Inspired by those brief moments of a total eclipse, Yuuri made the most of the darkness.

Notes: A very overused cliché in the KKM fandom, I know. I’m not very fond of it because I would never want things to happen in such a way, but just for the prompt I decided to have a little fun with ‘what if.’
Yuuri was moving through the party as quickly as his feet could carry him without alarming anyone of his distress. Behind him followed various nobles, men and women alike, all looking to take advantage of the recently leaked news that the Maou was on the market (though disregarding the fact that the same man was not looking--that was not important.)
As the small group of hopefuls loomed closer in anticipation of the catch, the king frantically searched for any form of escape--and found a desirable one standing just to the left, enjoying the ability to blend into the background. Yuuri quickly revoked that peaceful anonymity as he scurried over and, without so much as a word of warning, allowed his palm to connect with the man’s left check with a definitive slap that made the disappointed group end their hunt and return to mingling.
“Ah, Conrad, you saved me,” he cried, leaning against the older man in support and gratitude while Conrad stood silent for some time, hanging somewhere between elation and hope.

Notes: That last one of a set always seems to fall on the lame side, sorry. I still like it in its own right.
“So you see, you have to eat them all in one sitting so you can get the prize at the bottom,” Shibuya Yuuri was explaining to his protector and comrade, enjoying one of the rare moments where he was the one sharing knowledge. “Even though the gifts are usually--well, that’s not the point, it’s all about the goal!”
Conrad followed Yuuri’s example without argument and the two men ate the caramel-covered treat in the same fashion they seemed to do most things: as a two-part harmony, neither taking on too much and somehow managing equal weight.
When they finished, Yuuri’s stomach protested the logic of having eaten an extra large box of crackerjacks, but the prize was well worth it. A miniature figurine of a pitcher and catcher dealing the batter a strike sat triumphantly in the palm of his hand, an appropriate symbol for every accomplishment made up to that day.
