I've heard it said that the days of Sgt. Friday and Detective Gannon knocking on your door to politely serve a warrant are gone. In our militarized police sta^H^H^H force SWAT has become the default behavior. Gee. I guess that doesn't make SWAT so special anymore.
I maintain that it's high time police forces start training to those standards exemplified by Friday and Gannon. Always polite. Tough when they needed to be. But only when they needed to be. And respectful of the citizens that they serve.
