Vacation: Day 3.0

Aug 03, 2012 16:28

There will be a second part later with (at least) Riddles' photoshoot in it. Right now, this is just this morning/early afternoon's adventures, and I am, as of right now, hot, tired and unimpressed, but that's beside the point. Anyways, let's start at the beginning, with everything under a cut again. Tally forth. Tally forth...

So was woken up this morning by a muddy dog jumping all over my because some asshat opened my door. It was horrible, and this is the brown-streaked aftermath of the event.

Horrid. Anyways, got up, got dressed, prepared for an entire day of shopping. Of course it didn't quite work out that way. We had to take a ferry across the river from Dartmouth to Halifax. These, here, are the doors to the ferry station that wasn't open:

And this is the ferry that we actually too, which was a little ways further down the road, but also was open.

Bye, Dartmouth... I'm on a boat.

Finally make it to downtown Halifax. There are so many fucking hills you would not believe. The entire downtown area is on a massive slope. This made walking around a little strenuous, but so be it! Shopping! Cool stores that I have never seen before, and probably won't see again (for a while at least). You can't see the awful streets here, but they are. Trust me.

First stop was lunch at a place called the "Wooden Monkey". It's a very vegan/vegetarian friendly place, and rather eclectic feeling. You know, local homegrown foodstuffs for sale with prices that are just slightly on the side of ridiculous.

And here was what I ate:

Before... and after. Fucking delicious. At this time, though, I was still mostly asleep. But the food was good, even if there was a chunk of celery in my rice. WTF, but it tasted fine. A little bowl of brown rice and an organic lemon-lime soda.

Oh, and there was a cool... tea-set I suppose, hanging in the window.

After our lunch, we split (my mother and aunt going one way, and me, my sister and cousin going another). This is the first building that I saw, which I had to take a picture of.

The "Freeman's" Bar. We didn't go in, but damn... Mr Ryan, you belong here.

First stop after this was in a little place called "Biscuit", which sold some cool novelty and vintage-esque things. I didn't buy anything there, but some little tins caught my eye because they were damn cool.

Second stop in our adventure: Comic book store, where I purchased Riddles. He's still in his packaging, waiting for his photoshoot, impatiently, probably. Anyways, you had to duck to get in the shop, and it was lovely inside. I only managed to get one shot of the displace case you see going in, but basically it's mostly underground with cramped little isles filled with comic lovelies.

Bad quality photo is bad, but you can see how many figures you can spot. Thor and Harley are there. I looked for Loki, but I couldn't find him.

We stopped by a record shop we saw wandering around too. It was pretty big, but we just really breezed through it, since, go figure, none of us has a working record player. I did take a snapshot of a very interesting CD, however.

After that, we went to the Black Market, which was a cool jewelery/exotic/bohemian shop. It was fun to look around, and the prices were fair to. According to my cousin, they actually go to countries like Indian and pay people directly for the stuff, giving them, you know, actual money instead of pennies. It was very crowded inside.

This is basically what the entire store looked like. I bought an ear cuff here! It's tiny, but cool, and I will throw a picture of it in with the Riddles photoshoot. My mother got all freaked out because she thought it was a legit piercing. I was all "Haha bitch, no it isn't." It looks cool, though. Probably gonna break my ear out if I wear it too long, though.

Next stop was a crowded little vintage place that held nothing for me, since everything was so. Damn. Big. In the women's section, it was so. damn. small. I didn't see anything for either me or my Princess, so I left from there empty handed. Also, here is seems like it's okay to hang merchandise from the ceiling. Hell if I know why, but the Black Market, and the clothing shop both had stuff like that. Small, and cluttered, but not too dark.

After this, my mother called and apparently, they got bored and wanted to go home, so I suggested that we wander around an air-conditioned mall as a group and keep shopping since I had more than $60 left to my name, which is a lot (to me anyways). So we were wandering around the mall for a little while. I saw a black lace dress that would have looked really nice on my princess, but it was not in her size, very unfortunately, and was a tad low cut, so I grudgingly put it back. I wandered around for a while, and got a compliment from a woman in another store about my shoes (the Andrew Ryan shoes). And then she walked by me again and was like "LOL I like your shirt too!" I was just all "Thanks... *awkward smile* *browses through women's sale clothing*"

Also; these shoes. I nergled.

So, mother and her twin got to the mall. They showed off their "new tattoos" on their wrists, and tried to pass it off like they actually got them. They were just airbrush tattoos, but it was glaringly obvious, even though my mother didn't give it up for a while. It was just a little "JJ" on their wrists, which I know wouldn't have flown with my mother anyways. My Aunt, according to her, did actually try and convince her to get matching tattoos, and they went into a tattoo parlor. But they ended up with airbrushed ones anyways. I was going to kill her if she had just pranced off and gotten a tattoo done like that. God...

Anyways, mother and co also said that my pot-head cousin called and told her that she had to come home and bring some booze back from him because he wasn't going in to work today, and was instead going to party with his girlfriend. I just about flipped a table, because I was very ready to keep shopping. Fuck him. He had lied about his plans earlier, because he claimed that he was going to work, and we just had to come home in time to pick him up for work, but no. He needed his booze now.

So we went back down to the docks to catch the ferry. Around the docks was a little buskers festival! We just walked through it for the most part. But I did stop and take a picture of the wind-up doll.

Then we got back on the ferry, and went home. I sat alone down below this time. Just me and Riddles.

Fuck, I'm tired. Everyone else has gone out to the beach/partying, but not me. I am tired, and my head hurts. :( Boo.
But! I had an okay day none the less. I have to go do a mini photoshoot for Riddles.
