So this morning i was up at 7am... well, lied in bed watching the end of prison break, then got up ready for the canterbury half... I knew it wasnt going to be easy, but BOI, did I underestimate that route!!
For a start, it was like 30C outside, the sun was blazingggg! and the start of the race had a nice 3 mile uphill run... the joy! So i started right at the front this time (should make some interesting photos ;) rather than my usual technique of starting far back and overtaking many people (i guess its psychologically better!). I struggled to find the pace it first, i was kinda tired after only 3 miles, but i think it was mostly the sun and i guess they werent sponsors by lucozade, because the water stations only had water!! doh! but i had a secret weapon in my pocket, a pack of dextro energy, GET IN!!
So i chose the guy i was going to beat at the start and at the end as usual... they make nice pacemakers! I managed to pip them both,, one of them went toilet halfway thru and never really recovered... the other guy eventually gave up at the BEAST of a hill at 10miles... and i cant blame him, it was BAD! even some of the sub 1:25'ers were stuggling to walking point up it.
So in the end I managed to finish.. it was probably the hardest race ive ever done... i cant actually remember there being any flat road at all! i was 3rd female (haha!) but not sure where i came across the males, find out later i guess! the time JUST flipped over to 1hr31mins when i crossed. My PB is 1:27 and that was at Bath (despite being a notoriously hilly city, the race is quite flat).. so i was pretty pleased! When Bristol comes along in September, im trying for a sub 1:27... i think without the hills I would have done pretty well!
So after the race, I got the usual tack (medal, weird oat bar, (no cranberry sauce this time!!) etc.) managed the psot race stretches for a good 3minutes then fell asleep on the rugby field for probably 2 hours? I have a nice imprint of a medal on my chest, coupled with the inability to move!! so i hopped in my car, stopping every 10 or so miles to stretch, then thought i would head portsmouth for a bit of a sesh haha!
i wasnt expecting to be able to move, but i did pull of some new achievements and it was a chance to test the rebirth/ITG3 doubles charts...
SN Cred
Max300 SMMM Oni Doubles - A (retarded step chart)
Daikenkai Oni Doubles - FC (nice chart! haha)
KCET doubles - 8g's
Then tried some Rebirth and ITG3 doubles charts
- Little Red riding hood doubles (sexy chart!)
- Aurora doubles (pretty decent chart - 91.x sightread)
- EternuS doubles (i think this was the amazing one)
- Hearts of ice (a bit dissapointing, the chart could have been so much better!)
- Chromatic Blitz doubles (i actually think this is easier than the singles chart... 3 secs from the end of the stream sightread... will have it next time!)
- ReaF (RETARDED!!! 62% sightread... just draineddd! noticed it was a 14 afterwards, next time!)
then mopped up a chart ive been wanting for ages but totally forgot about
- BMR's A
then after getting murdered in the sun in the vain attempt to mask the medal mark on my chest (didnt work!) i headed back to bristol for an epic dinner of all proportion! good times!!
