(no subject)
I'm slowly but surely speaking more, and with more confidence. I've told all my friends who speak English to ONLY speak in Spanish with me, except Jose b/c I know he likes to practice English too (as evidenced by the fact that whenever I tell him about a new word or idiomatic phrase, he uses it in a sentence and tries to spell it), but even with him I'm speaking a bit more. Unfortunately, this means that I made plans with him over the phone for tomorrow, and I'm not 100% sure what we're doing. :-/ Something about him calling me at 3 when I get out of class and picking me up... but I have no idea where we're going, at all. I partially blame cell phone static, but really... it's just b/c I'm really dumb.
I get my first test back tomorrow. Actually it was a quiz. And I know I bombed it b/c I made up a word and used it twice. But I'm really not that upset, and I don't really know why. I'm floating on a cloud of sheer happy. I'm not sure why that is. I bet you all can venture a few guesses (especially Shannon, who knows all, and probably Jess, who knows pretty much all). But I can't possibly attribute my happiness to just that. I think it's because I really really am comfortable here. In my routine. Even though sometimes I get tired of being the only foreigner around. In that sense I almost wish there were other students here with me. But really, I love it here, and am so lucky to have found Jose, and that his friends have put up with me pretty gracefully thus far, even though I eat their food and then don't really speak to them much LMAO
Tally of folks who say I have a Spain-Spanish accent: 7.
Currently accepting ideas for Halloween costumes. So far the forerunners are a flapper, or Marie Antoinette. Mostly b/c I want to wear the wig. Both will likely require a costume purchase; MA likely more expensive, but also a lot more fun methinks. Jose suggested a flapper independent of my suggestion, which makes me think there's something flapperish about me. I would go the cheap route and make something of what I have, but.......I really don't have that much with me.
OOH I just thought of one: awkward nerdy school marm, with pencil skirt, Oxford shirt, hair in a bun, a pencil in my hair, glasses, and lipstick on my teeth. !! I may be on to something.
ANYWAY I still haven't read for class tomorrow. Class at 12, again at 1:30... *something* with Jose at 3... probably lameness after that... hooray!
