Run Hard, Live Easy

If a person runs hard then they are putting strain on the body thus forcing the body to adapt to the new situation. now if you keep excersising and putting strain on the body you will acheve greater cardiac strength.

---- The training effect is a physical phenomenon known to athletes. When a person exercises at a certain level for a certain duration over a certain number of weeks, their body will elevate its metabolism to a higher level - it will continue at this level as long as a certain amount of exercise is performed each couple of days. The measured effects were that muscles of respiration were strengthened, the heart was strengthened, blood pressure was sometimes lowered and the total amount of blood and number of red blood cells increased, making the blood a more efficient carrier of oxygen. VO2 Max was increased.----

because the heart (cardiac means heart, pretty much) is a musscle it can become stronger, and when your heart becomes stronger it is able to pump more blood to your body. and since it is pumping More blood, it can pump a fewer number of times thus decreasing your resting heart rate. that means if your heart is pumping less times it decreases the pressure on your arteries ( that means your blood pressure has gone down) the average blood pressure is 120/80 but if your arteries are cloged with cholesterol then the pressure within them increases (high blood pressure is bad because it means your arteries are shrinking and if they seal off completly blood backs up within your heart and you have a heart attack)

---- Blood pressure exceeding normal values is called arterial hypertension. Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, aneurysms, and is the second leading cause of chronic renal failure after diabetes mellitus. ----

now the reason the heart pumps blood is because we need oxygen

--- Oxygen is used by the cells to convert carbs and fats into energy ---

Blood is just a transportation system for oxygen, blood cells are like little cars and the molecules of oxygen are like little people. now if you can substitute some of thoes little 2 seater cars for big ole' vans full of people its better because more people are being transported for the same amount of gas.

--- VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen, in millilitres, one can use in one minute per kilogram of bodyweight ---

cardiorespiratory endurance - the ability of the lungs, heart and blood vessels to diliver adequate amounts of oxygen to the cells to meet the demands of prolonged physical activity

low muscular strength and endurance limits daily functions for some elderly individuals
