Last night was another one of those times that I venture out of my West of Annex / Bloorcourt Village bubble and I ventured south. I was surprised at the amount of garbage that has already accumulated on Queen Street. It's a bloodly mess! I'm proud to say that since the strike started I've not even filled a kitchen garbage bag yet. People are already dumping in Christie Pits. What pigs! Make do with less, North Americans!! Luckily my work, the TTC, still has garbage service and I spend a huge chunk of my waking hours there, but still.
I know that David Miller is trying to woo the right wing, but really, is it worth it? Should all of our summers be stinky? And should garbage collectors and daycare workers shoulder the burden of a recession that was caused by bad decisions they had nothing to do with?
Also the anti-union media machine was straight out the gate:
CP24: So why are the unions so evil anyway?
Marcus Gee: It's because they're Satanists.
It's pretty awesome.
