Despite legend, leaving the Garden of Eden was not something Adam and Eve did right away. For who would give up on paradise so fast, even if God was there to guard it with a flaming sword? But it was Eve who hurt the most from this parting and it was she who returned most often.

God did not speak to her when she went. She pleaded and begged to be allowed to return. She laid herself on the ground before the gates of Eden and sobbed. She didn’t understand how this could all be her fault, she didn’t understand the extent of her power. If she was merely the rib of Adam as he told her she was, then why would her actions matter so much? That is what she had believed when she took the fruit in her hand.

Now she knew better. How she wanted to go back. “Please God! Please let us return!” She choked on her tears, shoulders shaking. But she was only answered by silence. She fell asleep at the gate, and woke up in the cold dark. The sword remained there, flickering and she felt the heat from it and scooted closer to keep warm. She was so close. Why couldn’t she just go in? Eve stood, looking around the blue sands of the desert. She saw the dried out remains of a tree, and quickly walked over. Surely if she had been the one to cause their leaving, she could cause their return as well?

Quickly, the first woman picked up the branch and approached the gates of paradise. She tightened her grip on the wood, and swung forward against the flaming sword. It shook with her might, but the flame ate away at the branch all the way to her fingertips. They sizzled and she let go instinctively, staring at the wounds. “Why God, why?!” Eve sobbed. She knew why, but…Being unable to make up for her mistakes was killing her. Her sobs changed in pitch, and she stared up at the gates. Slowly her sobs quieted and Eve felt as if a great presence hovered over her.

She could hear Adam approaching in the distance, the soft shift of sand under his feet. The beat seemed to shake through her bones as this presence hovered over her. So she spoke gently to God, expressing how much she missed Him and regretted her decision. But her voice felt different, it didn’t feel like talking at all. Eve was the first human being to sing. And she felt God around her, holding her, embracing her. Perhaps this was the only way He could approach her, seeing as He was supposed to be teaching her a lesson, one which she felt distinctly. But how could He leave His beloved creations?

Her voice was aimless, having never sung before and when Adam came up behind her, he joined in, sitting beside her on the sand. He felt God too. From that time on, whenever they sang, they could feel paradise. They sang together every day.

(Whatchya think? I can't make short stories U_U; so I ripped off the bible and made up something, lol such a blasphemer. OH and capitalizing in the middle of a sentence was bizarre XD)
