Tagging is super useful when you're trying to find something from a while ago, or when you're new to the community and want to find the things that will interest you. At
5_4_3_2 we use tags to label something as part of one of our regular challenges so we can easily keep track of everything, and the rest of our tags reflect our community emphasis on fanworks and participation.
Please tag your posts! You can come back and tag them later if you forget to at first. Tagging on
5_4_3_2 is specifically designed to be very simple. We don't think "the more tags, the better." We think "the simpler tags, the better." What follows is an overly detailed description of what should usually be very straightforward:
Tags on 5_4_3_2
(in mostly alphabetical order)
challenge: xyz any tag starting with "challenge: " followed by a phrase denotes that a post tagged as such is part of that particular challenge. Eventually there will be many, many challenge: xyz tags. Every time a new challenge is announced, that announcement post gets the specific tag, and any post that is a submission to the challenge needs to be tagged with that new tag. If you want to take part in the challenge and don't tag your post appropriately, the Modlings won't see your submission when we make the round-up and poll. So, simple, tag your post and we'll see it! Every member is eligible for every challenge.
challenge winner! The main reward for winning a challenge is getting this tag on your post. Only Modlings can bestow posts with this tag - if we catch it being misused, that's grounds for banination. By clicking on this tag you can see the cream of the community; if you're new to the fandom or just trying to find "the good stuff", check out the posts with this tag!
adult content We're happy to have content and discussions about things that qualify as "adult content", as long as it doesn't involve *real* illegal activities. Discussion of fictional characters doing illegal things is fine. Because community membership is open to everyone, please simply tag your posts appropriately, and keep the actual adult content underneath a livejournal cut, thanks!
discussion 5_4_3_2 welcomes discussion of all types, as long as it has to do with iCarly. We're not really into talking about the celebrities that star in iCarly, particularly, but we love to talk about show details and speculate about plots and discuss the fandom. If you want to talk celebrity gossip or discuss something that's only partially related to iCarly, we suggest taking your post over to
groovysmoothie. If you want to talk about Freddie's bedroom props or the best outfits Sam's ever worn or the sexual tension between Chuck and Spencer, 5_4_3_2 is the place for you, and we welcome your post!
episode discussion This one's reserved for one specific type of post only. It's for the posts a Modling makes on the night of a new episode and includes a lovely rating poll for everyone to judge the episode and give it a 1-10. Immediate reactions, prompt ideas, and so-on go on in the comments of these posts. Any future posts about specific episodes just use the regular "discussion" tag. The 1-10 polls will always stay open, so everyone can weigh in on 5_4_3_2's opinions as to the best and worst episodes of the season.
fandom meta This tags seems to confuse people the most, but it's really simple. If your post has to do with the *fandom* of iCarly, and not iCarly itself, it gets this tag. Friending memes, links to other iCarly communities or websites, and posts that are about the state of iCarly fandom as a whole get this tag.
fanmix All fanmixes get this tag. A fanmix is a combination of songs that people select and order to tell a story or describe an emotion or relationship from the show, combined with cover graphics and sometimes extra details or snippets of fanfic.
fanvid All fanvids get this tag. A fanvid is edited pieces of the show set to a song.
fic All fanfics get this tag. A fanfic is... oh, heck, do we really have to explain what a fanfic is? Even if you're making a post for a fanfic-only challenge, please use the "fic" tag as well as the "challenge: xyz" tag.
art Any post that contains fanart needs this tag, even posts that are also part of a challenge. The difference between fanart and fan-graphics is that fan-graphics serve a secondary, technical purpose apart from looking pretty/interesting or telling a story through pictures.
graphics All fan-graphics get this tag. Graphics include the following: icons, livejournal and twitter themes or other website customization graphics and codes, banners, wallpapers, and more. The difference between fanart and fan-graphics is that fanart is pretty much single-purpose in only being pretty/interesting or telling a story. Fan-graphics are usually made to be shared, fanart is usually made to be admired.
links If you're linking to another website or community that would be useful or interesting to the members of this community, use this tag!
modpost Only Modlings can make posts with this tag. Modposts contain useful or vital information about the community, including updates and sometimes vital polls to determine future community rules and guidelines. This post, for example, is a modpost.
official media If a post contains official, untouched by fans, information or media, it gets this tag. Because of 5_4_3_2's emphasis on fanworks, we haven't used this tag yet, but you can!
partypost! You'll know a partypost when you see it.
picspam All picspams get this tag. A picspam is a collage of images, sometimes with commentary, or a collection of unedited screencaps with commentary. There are many types of picspam, but it always involves a *lot* of pictures!
screencaps One popular fandom activity is to make screencaps of episodes or web content for other people to use in graphics, art, and picspams, or just to admire the pretty show! If you're linking to a gallery of screencaps or making a picspam that involves screencaps that people are welcome to save and edit for their own purposes, use this tag.
poll There are a lot of polls on 5_4_3_2, and most of them are found in modposts. If you like to vote on things and have your opinion be heard, check out this tag. For example, we always have a poll up to rate your enjoyment of each new episode as it airs.
random poll These are actually silly community event type things. If you have an idea for a new Random Poll, leave your idea
in the Ideas Post! prompt A prompt is an idea, picture, or snippet of writing that somebody thinks would make a good starting point for a fanwork. Prompts are different from challenges and requests because they have no deadlines, winners, or recipients, but if you're a creative fan with writer's or artist's block, prompts are here to help you! If you have a prompt in mind, make a post to share it, and use this tag! We always invite people to leave prompt ideas in the comments of every new episode discussion post we have.
request A request is something a person is specifically looking for and can't find. If you're looking for a particular kind of fanwork, or have a favor to ask of people in the community, please use this tag on your post.
