My son's Alaskan Husky had fun in the snow today. We only got 1" of the 1 to 3" expected but I was still glad to finally see some. Still hoping for a big snow.
Cold Weather CanineWhen my son tried selling me on the idea of keeping this dog, he said the dog never barked. I have since found out why. That breed prefers to howl. He often sends me

I got kittens a few years later when he was a grown adult. He was so powerful that we had to get a special weight chain to keep him in the yard because he could break anything the pet or animal stores sold. When he'd come inside, though, he was so gentle with the kittens that everyone's initial panic quickly turned to amazement.
And, yeah, he _loved_ snow. We had to drag him in from it.
Living close to work is a substantial advantage. You will end up having to figure the value of that and the advantages of friendliness and flexibility if another offer from a place that seems decent comes in. Driving is stressful to some, and gasoline can't be expected to go back to $1.50 any year soon. (And consider driving in rain or snow or ice.)
You could also just be facing an itch with an empty house. If you've no need for more money and you've got benefits including something for retirement there, you may just need to realize the job you've got is ok, but the itch is for something new elsewhere in life. It might sound trite, but maybe a new hobby or area of study?

Yes, I've noticed what a powerful dog he is. It feels like he's going to pull my arm out of its socket when I walk him. Luckily, a large section of the back yard is fenced in so he has the run of that area.
I am doing a very thorough comparison chart taking into consideration the travel expenses; gas, wear & tear on vehicle, etc. You know, I like driving but I've never had to do it as a daily routine. It might not be as much fun if I had to drive 500 miles a week for work. With current gas prices, that would be at least $2,500 spent in 1 year on gas. Sort of defeats the purpose of making more. :o
You've made a perceptive point that this reassessment might not even be about my job. Although I'm quite happy and content overall, there is that feeling that maybe there's something, else or more, I should be doing. Geez, simply making a career choice would have been so much easier. *g* I guess it's introspection time.
