the scenic route

Yesterday morning I left Asheville and drove from abigail89's home in the mountains back to my home in the mountains.

Of course, I stopped to take pictures along the way.

I enjoyed a lovely visit this week with fellow HP fans. Much appreciation again to abigail89 for hosting the gathering. I got to meet my first friend on LJ, annearchy! and her daughter. Tackleglomps ensued. :D I also met avidbeader, a longtime LJ friend and the crafter of 'my precious' H/Hr bracelet. I also met signifcantowl who I didn't know before and definitely should have friended sooner. :) A fun group to hang out with, that's for sure. It couldn't have come at a better time either given the synchronicity of the last book, the fifth movie, and Daniel Radcliffe’s 18th birthday. :D

We noshed and nibbled most of Tuesday as we visited. I made some healthy snacks to counteract the sugar content in a basket of confectioneries from Kentucky. I’m glad annearchy’s daughter preferred the vegetable bars to the bourbon balls, which she said tasted like Tylenol :D

I fell in love with Fred. I have a feeling he will charm the workers at the doggie spa and get free massages thrown in with the other amenities over the next week.

abigail89 made a call to England and we all got to talk to alissomora! We listened to HP music and wizard rock as we discussed everything Potter. We went to the bookstore and spent some time checking out the HP merchandise and a certain Details magazine. ;)

We then saw OotP at a dinner theatre. Before the previews was a video compilation of HP fun/funny/photoshopped/animated/spoof stuff taken from the internet which was hilarious, things such as Harry Potter American Idol. The Cinebarre was a great movie experience. The food and service were both good. I had the Braveheart pizza - spinach, artichokes, roasted garlic, and goat cheese. Yum!

I confessed why my copy of DH no longer has an epilogue and shared the photographic evidence of its demise. It involved fire. And Hogsmeade Harry and Hermione. And miniature marshmallows on a bamboo skewer. It was a lovely roast. I considered it a necessary catharsis. Don’t be haten’ now, because I did like DH more than that indicates. :D I'm on my second read now.

annearchy’s daughter kept us entertained by writing an innovative, alternate epilogue. I know she had to have written 30+ pages. Upon reflection, everyone there was authors except for me. Oh well, I’m rejuvenated and in full fanfic reading mode now. Bring it on!

We had some drinks, relaxed a little, and retired for the night reasonably early since we were all traveling and/or working the next day. abigail89 and her husband made some delicious whole wheat, blueberry banana pancakes for us Wednesday morning before we all went on our separate ways.

Thanks to all of the above for the goodies/pressies but, most of all, for such a wonderful time in your company.

My next HP lovefest is Saturday. I’m going to Louisville with my cousin to see ‘Order’ on IMAX and then Saturday night we’re going to watch some wizard rock. We had already planned on the IMAX movie but when I found out Draco and the Malfoys and Harry and the Potters would be performing that night in Louisville, we knew we had to make a HP day of it.

More later on life in general. :)
